Rising Stars: Meet Igor Faria

Today we’d like to introduce you to Igor Faria.

Igor, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Hey there, what’s up! My name is Igor Faria and I’m just a Brazilian kid with big dreams. Since I was little, I’ve always dreamed of living in the USA, and when I was 12, I discovered dance, which changed everything for me. It’s been a long road, but I finally became a professional dancer. My first international job was in Paris, and it showed me how much I was capable of. Two years later, I got an opportunity to work for the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus, which brought me to the US for three years. During that time, I worked hard to save money and figure out how to get a visa to live and work in Los Angeles. It wasn’t easy, but I made it happen and moved there three years ago.

Living in LA has been tough, especially as a dancer, but I’ve learned that it’s possible to make it work. After a year and a half of hustling, I landed my big break dancing for Ariana Grande in her music video “No Tears Left to Cry.” From there, I went on to do world tours and billboard shows with her. My ultimate goal was to go on a world tour with an international artist I love, and I did it! Last year, we went on the “Sweetener World Tour,” which included over 100 shows worldwide, including headlining Coachella and Lollapalooza. I’m incredibly grateful and blessed for all of these opportunities.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Every day, I faced the daunting task of surviving as a dancer. The constant rejection and financial instability made it a grueling career choice and at times. Despite the challenges, I persevered, driven by my passion for dance and my unwavering belief that I could make it in this industry.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m a professional dancer who lives in Los Angeles. I’m recognized as a stage dancer and I’m really proud of myself that I did a world tour with the big artist in the world Ariana Grande. What makes me different is my focus, hard work, energy and the hunger that I have for reach my goals.

Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
To be candid, I didn’t have a specific mentor to guide me through the dance industry. However, I constantly drew inspiration from those who were excelling in their craft, and I observed and learned from their experiences and missteps. Being mindful of these lessons helped me avoid similar pitfalls and make informed decisions on my path toward success.
