Today we’d like to introduce you to Francis Dominic.
Hi Francis, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
When I am not galavanting Theme Parks and focusing my energy into spreading as much light and love I can, I sit, reflect, contemplate, be grateful, and manifest. All of this started to be honest when I came out in 7th Grade on Myspace that I liked boys. And from there, the rest was history. During High School, I was class president and cheer captain and I was very well known throughout the district. Even at the time, what seemed a lot, I ended my high school career with 7,000K Followers. I was always the kid with a digital camera taking pictures and sharing them on Facebook. It didn’t help the maximum cap was 200 photos for each album at the time. My love for capturing and sharing memories transcended into college as I would sometimes skip class to go to Disneyland. I mean who wouldn’t right? Hahaha!
Through college, I was introduced to the Disney College Program. This was the internship that let you live, breathed, and eat Disney! I got accepted and I spent eight months in Orlando, Florida living my dream as a Cast Member. The best part about my shifts was they were always from 5:30AM – 11:30AM. Right after I clock out, I would take the busses to parks because at the time, it was also my first time living away from home AND visiting Walt Disney World. I afforded myself no time to waste. As I adventured my way through Walt Disney World, I utilized a lot of Instagram and on average would share 6-9 photos a day! I had so much fun living my best life there and apparently so did a lot of people! I increased my following to 15k by the end of my Disney College Program. After that, I went back to California to do more schooling and applied for another Program in Disneyland! Out of the 500 applicants, they only accepted 20. I WAS ONE OF THOSE 20! I felt so lucky because it was the 60th Anniversary Diamond Celebration of Disneyland. From years and years, so many have enjoyed my growth and advances because of the platform I was given. I wouldn’t change it for the world.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
What road to success is a smooth road? I feel like that’s a mockery of a question! Hahaha! BUT! Yeah. I would say so. I quickly realized I was one of the few openly Gay, Brown Filipino Boy dominating the scene in the Disney Community. I saw that if no one was going to give me a seat at the table, then I would go ahead and create my own table. I’m sure I had struggles, but I always hand my blinders on (figuratively) to stay focused on my happiness and growth. If I had a hurdle, I would figure out how to hop over it and continue.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Do Content Creators/Influencers count as creative/artists? Someone can say no and someone can say absolutely, but I’ve been doing this for so long I believe it definitely is a different version and spectrum of it! There’s so much work that goes into it, I feel people don’t realize that aspect!
I am a Digital Content Creator for myself and also for a plethora of brands that I have worked with. I specialize in content creating. Especially in creating a need. I am known for my adventures in Disney Theme Parks documented through Instagram and my Partner’s Youtube Channel. I am most proud of being so unapologetically ME! That someone like me is in the eyes of so many, I love showing the world that you can have this too. I am proud of the connections and friendships I have fostered and I am proud of ME! I made nothing into a something that would take me to heights I would’ve never known.
What sets me apart from others? I mind my own business! I don’t compare myself to others and I continually do me.
How do you define success?
If I am happy with my work, that’s all that matters.
