Rising Stars: Meet Farley Rene of North Hollywood

Today we’d like to introduce you to Farley Rene

Hi Farley, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
So, everything began in New York City, where I grew up in Long Island, spending my formative years between West Hempstead and Elmont, and later the Bronx. Being Haitian and the youngest of seven, I was surrounded by a rich blend of cultures and music. Saturdays in my house were like a symphony—Three floors filled with everything from jazz to salsa and kompa. That environment sparked my creativity early on. My mother allowed me to explore, but she ensured I understood discipline and respect.

From a young age, I was curious, imaginative, and always on a mission. I had mentors like My brother Lesly and Mr. T, a Black Panther, and my basketball coach, both taught me early about life, discipline, and the importance of showing/standing up for myself. I always felt this drive to create, even though I was a shy kid who didn’t always know how to express it. I was an entrepreneur early on, sweeping hair in barbershops, and setting up little businesses—I knew then I wanted to work for myself.

In the early 2000s, my connection to dance started during the Harlem Shake era. My friends and I would get fly, hit up NYC staples for teens like Skate Key, Copacabana, and Exit Nightclub, and battle it out. Around the same time, thanks to my older brother, and older friends I was sneaking into 21-and-over clubs at just 15 years old. I wasn’t drinking—I was observing. Being around that older generation gave me a glimpse of a world that inspired my artistic expression and love for storytelling.

Though I was a serious basketball player and expected to play in college, my path changed when I broke my wrist during my senior year. My brother suggested I take a dance class, and that moment changed my life. Seeing choreography up close for the first time sparked something in me. I trained tirelessly at Broadway Dance Center, Peri Dance, and EXPG, eventually leading to a bi-coastal life between New York and California.

I still remember the day in college when I got the call to go on my first tour. I was in a psychology class, and without hesitation, I walked out of that classroom and never looked back. That decision was pivotal—I knew this was my purpose. Since then, I’ve been fortunate to perform on stages around the world, collaborate with incredible artists, and work across various disciplines—from entertainment to fashion, even being a movement model on runways.

All these experiences have shaped me into who I am today: a multidisciplinary artist and a dreamer, constantly evolving. My journey has been guided by being surrounded by love, culture, and purpose-driven people who inspired me along the way. My brand FIWWA$ (Freedom Is What We All $eek) is just one expression of who I am, a reflection of the lessons I’ve learned and the cultures that shaped me. I feel lucky to have grown up in an era and environment that nurtured creativity and individuality—something I hope to continue sharing with the

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I can’t help but smile at the moments—both painful and beautiful—that brought me here. The road wasn’t smooth, but it’s been my greatest teacher, shaping me in ways I never expected. Every obstacle, setback, and sacrifice played a role in who I am today.

The path was never easy, but struggles reveal what you’re truly made of you know. Chasing something personal tests your limits and resilience, helping you grow and uncover what truly matters. Hard moments don’t define you—they forge you, pushing you to find strength you didn’t know you had and keep going, even when it feels impossible.

There were countless nights filled with doubt—questioning my choices, my direction, and whether it was all worth it. I missed out on moments others might take for granted. Yet, in those times, there was always a fire within me that refused to go out, driving me forward. It’s a burning desire to grow, to achieve, and to win.

Today, I’m proud of the journey—the work, the risks, and the lessons. I’ve met incredible people who’ve shaped my path, and every step, every struggle, has been essential to my growth. I don’t just see the person I’ve become—I see the road that got me here. I see someone who stayed true to their vision, even when the way forward felt unclear.

I’ve come to realize I have a gift—these visions come with the responsibility to bring them to life. I know I’m living/working in my purpose, Launching my brand, FIWWA$, has solidified this purpose: to build something meaningful and enduring for the next generation. i strive to be a reference point for others—showing that if I can achieve it, they can too. That drives me—this motivates me because I want to connect build community and inspire.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’ve always seen myself as a visionary and multidisciplinary artist, where art, personal growth, and life’s pursuit are all interconnected. Dance was my first medium, the language I used to express and understand myself. It opened doors to unimaginable experiences—from performing with artists like Kendrick Lamar, Teyana Taylor, Megan Thee Stallion, and John Legend to stepping into the world of fashion. Working with brands like Vogue, Pyer Moss, Kenzo, and Moncler has shown me that with imagination and persistence, what once seemed unattainable can become reality.

For me, it’s never been about the accolades or milestones—it’s about the language of art itself. I’m captivated by the countless ways people express and experience life. Whether through movement, storytelling, or visual creation, I’m always seeking how each element intertwines to leave a lasting impact. Every project I take on—whether it’s directing, performing, or designing—is driven by intention. My focus is on crafting moments that not only resonate but inspire change and reflection.

This philosophy birthed FIWWA$, a mission-driven brand that goes beyond the product. It’s a reminder to live authentically, embrace growth, and drive personal change. FIWWA$ stands for self-expression, connection, and the pursuit of a legacy that transcends time. Through dance, fashion, and every creative pursuit, my vision is to create something that not only empowers but inspires others to boldly forge their own path and shape their future.

What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
Understanding yourself and staying connected to something greater is the foundation of purpose. This guiding principle has shaped my journey. Art and life are not separate—they flow together, and my work is a reflection of that unity.

One of the most valuable lessons I’ve learned is to take my craft seriously but never take myself too seriously. The weight of expectation can be overwhelming, but true growth happens when you show up, give your best, and trust the process. Every moment, every person, every place is unique. These moments can never be replicated, so I make it a point to do my best and remain open and present to what’s before me.

Another crucial lesson I’ve embraced is the value of remaining a student. The humility of a white belt keeps me open to learning, adapting, and evolving. It’s about stepping into the unknown, challenging myself, and pushing boundaries. Whether it’s exploring uncharted paths, learning from others, or leaning into the discomfort of change, it’s all part of the growth process.

Never forget to always clap for yourself!
