Today we’d like to introduce you to Emily Pennington and Ashley Singh.
Hi Emily and Ashley, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
We met in 2020 when Ashley delivered an arrangement from my husband for our anniversary. It was an instant connection, and we made plans to grab a coffee the following week.
You know those amazing first dates where you end up spending hours just chatting and never wanting it to end? That was our first meeting. We grabbed cappuccinos from a local coffee house and spent the afternoon bouncing around to different plant shops, and by the end, we knew they would be forever friends and wanted to find a way to work together.
Ashley had been in the floral world for about a decade and I was just coming out of the corporate world with a background in marketing and business management looking to take that experience and turn it into working for myself. It was a match made in heaven!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I think any start to a business can be difficult. We really wanted to find a way to set ourselves apart from the other florists in the area. A friend pointed out what we should have seen already on our own. Our friendship is what makes us special. We take our daily banter and love and put it into our business. Our arrangements are named after little phrases we use a lot. The vendors we have met along the way and the clients we have worked with have become family. We want what we do to always leave an impression.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
We keep all of our pieces as a balance of modern and organic styles. Trends come and go but are important to address in any business but we like to put our own spin on them. We add touches of moody tones to all of our designs and make sure that our style stays flowey and organic and really shows off every aspect of the pieces. An arrangement with roses doesn’t just show off the rose, it shows off the secondary flowers, the texture pieces, and even the greens. It all works in unison.
What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
I think that being unapologetically yourself will get you very far. We work with brides and planners and it isn’t just can we do the work, its do they want to work WITH us. Our personality shines in our social media, website, and marketing pieces. You know us before you ever speak with us. You trust that we can get the job done and give you suggestions to help bring your vision to life all while having a good time!
