Rising Stars: Meet ELIZABETH Toller

Today we’d like to introduce you to ELIZABETH Toller.

ELIZABETH Toller

Hi ELIZABETH, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I popped into a family bubbling over with creativity! My grandfather whipped up masterpieces in the kitchen and behind the camera lens, while my mother painted like a pro. My aunts? Oh, they’ve got poetry, design, writing, and painting all wrapped up in a bow! My sister rocks the costume design world. But the quirkiest creator of them all was my dad—a computer programmer back in 1958 when computers were the size of a small house and had a grand total of 2K of memory. Talk about thinking outside the (giant) box!

I started my journey as a twinkle-toed ballet dancer! But when I was about 10, my mom handed me a point-and-shoot camera to take to summer camp, and, oh boy, was it love at first click! That little camera became my constant sidekick. I was always snapping away, and soon my friends and family were lining up to see my latest shots, always throwing compliments my way about my “eye for composition.”

Then, a twist I didn’t see coming—a car accident ended my dancing dreams. But when one door closes, another opens! I waltzed right into college and found my true creative love: photography. After graduation, I took a detour and ended up working for lawyers, but photography was still my trusty stress-buster. Street photography became my jam!

Life threw another surprise my way when my friends and family started having babies. I thought I was just snapping candids, but the next thing I knew, I was creating wall-worthy portraits! Boom, I had a business! My claim to fame? Capturing the magical beginnings of life, especially my signature breastfeeding portraits.

But then, the economy tanked, a dear friend passed away, and my mom was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Dementia. I found myself only shooting what I knew would sell, feeling like I was in a creative industry with zero creativity. So, I closed my studio, hung up my camera (for now), and went back to the lawyer life.

For the first time ever, I felt like my creativity was on pause. So, I dove into researching how to live a creative life and reignite that spark. Now, I’m working on a book called “The Power of the Personal Project” and a photographic series called “Life Gone Wrong.” On top of that, I’m channeling my intuitive gifts as an Intuitive Coach—using my skills as a psychic, medium, tarot reader, and Reiki healer to help others push past their doubts and embrace their creative path in life, business, and art!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Life’s been more like a bumpy roller coaster than a smooth ride for me! I went through a long creative drought, where I was busy caring for others, filing for bankruptcy, grieving lost friends, and working soul-crushing jobs just to keep the lights on. Even though I made it through that rough patch, I’m still shaking my fist at arthritis that’s made itself right at home in my hips and ankles (thanks, ballet!) and my shoulder (cheers, photography!).

Add to that the sky-high cost of living in Southern California, and the daily juggling act of family, a day job, and my own business. Honestly, some days feel like I’m walking a tightrope between the practical and the creative, trying to keep from tipping over. But hey, I’m still standing (even if it’s a little wobbly)!

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?

In addition to pouring my heart into my book, “The Power of the Personal Project,” and my photographic still-life collection, “Life Gone Wrong,” I’m also an Intuitive Coach with a mission to help people unlock their own creativity and potential. I use my abilities as a psychic, medium, and tarot card reader to tune into the energies that are swirling around my clients’ lives. It’s not just about predicting the future; it’s about helping them understand the present and find the path that leads to their most vibrant, authentic selves.

My goal is to guide each person I work with to step confidently into the driver’s seat of their life—no more sitting in the back seat, watching things happen from a distance! I offer insights that light up the road ahead, empowerment that fuels their journey, and practical guidance to turn their dreams into reality. I’m here to remind you that life isn’t just something that happens to you; it’s something you can create, shape, and turn into a work of art. Whether it’s overcoming self-doubt, getting unstuck in a creative rut, or making bold life changes, I’m your go-to guide for turning those “what-ifs” into “why nots?” and making your everyday existence a little more magical!

What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
Creativity is my spiritual practice, and life is my ritual. For me, it’s like getting a cosmic nudge from the Higher Power/Universe/Source/God, whispering, “Hey, let’s make some magic!” That divine inspiration plugs me into a deeper part of myself while also connecting me to the vast world around me.

When I’m in “the flow” or “the zone,” it feels like I’m stepping through a hidden doorway where my art transforms into a portal to my unique view of the world. But here’s the twist—creativity isn’t just some mystical lightning bolt striking out of nowhere. Nope! It’s also a habit—a daily practice that keeps me open, curious, and ready for that spark of inspiration to come waltzing right in.
