Today we’d like to introduce you to Elijah Lynch.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
A lot of people don’t know that in reality I never had to grow up in the hood.I grew up in Yorba Linda CA which is a prestige neighborhood.Being a African American in that type of environment even I was constantly scrutinized. But that’s also where I fell in love with music and met my best friend.i used to walk to school practice freestyles on the lunch tables,at the basketball court, I loved music when I turned 16 I moved to corona ca. And that’s where I really pushed music my first ever song was with a band mate named uncle Toby. At the time I was struggling with self identification and addiction. When I graduated I dropped my first single called “crusing” with my good friend YNF. Which pushed 100k streams on SoundCloud. After the steady rise of myself I ended up becoming homeless due to an eviction. I was sleeping in parks car’s bathrooms any where warm.and thats where i wrote most of my music in shelters on streets so all my music is really raw. Now I’m still pushing my music and enjoying every day of my life.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Dealing with homelessness
Drug addiction
Depression
Simply not feeling like I’m enough being truly alone
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Im a hood prophet
Meaning I make music and speak truth
All my music is raw and emotional
To really express the struggle I had to endure
We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
My favorite memory is when I met my best friend steven Peterson in the 3rd grade
He was sitting in class I’m looking for a seat mind you I’m the only African American in the whole school so all eyes are on me nobody wanted to give me a seat and he got up and said come sit here and I say next to him ever since we been brothers stealing lunchboxes together candy from teachers classrooms. That’s my brother for life.
