Rising Stars: Meet Ebony Belser

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ebony Belser.

Ebony Belser

Ebony, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started out with humble beginnings. No funding, just started learning my craft, and no concrete vision on where I was going to go with crocheting/creating. I experienced a very traumatic time in my personal life that guided me to be inspired to crochet. Technically, it started out as a hobby and coping mechanism for the pain I was working on releasing and healing from. Kind of like working out or any other form of self-expression or release. After seven years of hard work, collaboration, and dedication I am still in business and very proud I can inspire others on what it is they enjoy doing.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road because any business owner that’s really dedicated to the growth and expansion of the business knows that that comes with sacrifice. That being said one of the main struggles is SACRIFICING! Sacrificing old ways of doing things and being open to learning new.

Another struggle is funding. Whether that be the lack thereof or creating it for oneself. Funding is very necessary and will benefit the longevity of your business.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am the CEO, creative director, and designer of ECBC, LLC. I specialize in Crochet clothing, handmade home goods, and vegan cosmetics + more! I am known for my unique crochet ensembles and being an overall “minimal creative” so to say, using a little to create a lot. I am very proud of the expansion and growth of my business and look forward to what’s next! What sets ECBC, LLC apart from others is that I pride myself on being different from the rest, EXCLUSIVE!

Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
My advice for those just starting out is to stay ten toes down! Don’t let hard times take you out of the game use those times to learn and take a step back so you can come back better than ever, because there will be hard times. There are a lot of things I wish I knew starting out, but that’s a part of the journey and the reason for the journey. To grow, learn, experience, etc.
