Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Brittney Dayne
Hi Dr. Brittney, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My journey has been anything but traditional, but every step has shaped who I am today. I earned my Doctorate of Pharmacy at age 24, but my passions extended beyond medicine. While working in healthcare, I became an IFBB Bikini Pro athlete and made history as the first Black doctor to compete on the Olympia stage.
In 2020, I launched The RYT Skincare (Reveal Your Truth®), a wellness brand rooted in self-acceptance and authenticity. Then in 2022, I took a leap of faith and moved to LA to pursue acting. This leap also led me to filmmaking—after years of infertility struggles, I executive produced and acted in “Pause”, a film inspired by my husband and my personal experience with IVF and miscarriage.
From pharmacy to fitness, acting to entrepreneurship, my path has been about resilience, reinvention, and revealing my truth at every stage.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Smooth? Not even close! But every challenge has shaped me.
Earning my Doctorate of Pharmacy required relentless discipline, and stepping into the competitive world of bodybuilding meant pushing my body and mind to their limits. Becoming the first Black doctor to compete at the Bikini Olympia was an incredible honor, but it didn’t come without struggles—balancing a demanding career with elite-level training was no joke.
Then came my biggest test—infertility. My husband and I faced 6 years of heartbreak, from failed IVF cycles to devastating miscarriage. The emotional toll was immense, and for a long time, I felt isolated in that pain. That’s what ultimately led me to produce “Pause”—I wanted to shed light on the silent struggles so many face.
Moving to LA to pursue acting was another leap of faith. Breaking into the industry is tough, and I had to navigate rejection, self-doubt, and starting over in a new city. But through it all, I’ve learned that every setback is just a setup for something greater. My journey hasn’t been smooth, but it’s been purposeful. And I wouldn’t change a thing.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
As an actress, producer, and entrepreneur, my work is all about storytelling—whether it’s through film, skincare, or even my journey as an athlete. I specialize in raw, authentic storytelling that connects with people on a deeper level. My passion for truth and vulnerability is what drives everything I do.
What I’m most proud of is turning my pain into purpose. Instead of letting hardships define me, I’ve used them to create meaningful work that resonates with others.
What sets me apart is my journey—I’m not just telling stories, I AM the story. I’ve lived through the struggles I portray, and I bring that depth to every role, every project, and every endeavor. I believe true artistry isn’t about perfection, it’s about truth—and that’s what I strive to bring to every aspect of my work.
Are there any books, apps, podcasts or blogs that help you do your best?
My favorite book is Parable of the Sower by Octavia Butler. It’s a story about resilience, transformation, and the power of belief—things that deeply resonate with me. The protagonist is a visionary who faces unimaginable hardships yet refuses to be defined by them. Instead, she adapts, evolves, and creates something greater from her struggles.
That theme speaks to me on so many levels. My own journey has been about overcoming, reinventing, and trusting that every challenge serves a greater purpose.
Butler’s work also challenges us to embrace change and take control of our own narratives, which aligns with my belief in revealing and honoring our truth. It isn’t just a book—it’s a philosophy on survival, faith, and forging a path forward, no matter how uncertain the road may be.
