Rising Stars: Meet Dimitris Giannetos of Los Angeles

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dimitris Giannetos

Hi Dimitris, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I began my career in Greece and worked with Maria Menounos when she was there for work. She was the first to invite me to Los Angeles for a shoot while I was still based there. When I arrived, Maria introduced me to key industry figures, which opened up incredible opportunities. It was during that time in LA that I met my first agent, Charly Shahin at Opus Beauty. Charly believed in me from the start, putting my name out there and helping shape my career. Now, 12 years later, I’ve come full circle—back at Opus Beauty, with my new agent, Steeve Foussard.

By 2014, I was steadily building my clientele, and two of my earliest clients, Joy King and Camila Cabello, became like family. We’ve been working together for over a decade now. Today, my work can be seen in major legacy publications like Vogue, InStyle, Allure, and Byrdie, contributing to some of the industry’s most talked-about trends—“Rich Girl Hair,” “Churro Waves,” “Prada Bobs,” and more.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
My journey hasn’t been easy. Moving to the U.S. from Greece in 2013 was a huge challenge, especially because I didn’t speak English. I had to start from scratch, building my career in a new country where I didn’t have many connections. But I’ve always believed that if you work hard, set goals, and never stop dreaming, things start to fall into place. It took time, but through persistence and passion, I was able to establish myself in this industry.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m a hair stylist and colorist known for creating flawless, trendsetting looks—and I’ve been lucky enough to work with some of the biggest names in Hollywood, like Amal Clooney, Demi Moore, George Clooney, Kim Kardashian, Camila Cabello, Joey King, Brad Pitt, Justin Bieber, Gigi Hadid, Megan Fox and many more. My work spans everything from celebrity styling and editorial shoots to global brand partnerships, and I love bringing a fresh, modern touch to every look I create.

I grew up in Thessaloniki, Greece, and knew from a young age that hairstyling was my calling. I used to experiment on my mom and sister’s hair, trying to recreate editorial looks I’d see in magazines. By 15, I was already in beauty school, and over the next twelve years, I traveled the world, working backstage at fashion shows in New York, Milan, and Paris. My work has been featured on the covers of Vogue, ELLE, InStyle, and more, which still feels surreal sometimes!

In 2013, I made the big move to Los Angeles, where I built my career styling A-list clients for red carpets, music videos, and major campaigns. Along the way, I’ve also partnered with major brands and helped shape global beauty trends, which landed me as L’Oreal’s US Color Ambassador and Moroccanoil’s Global Ambassador. People Magazine even named me on their “Sexiest Glam Alive” list, and Vogue called me a “Glam God”—which was a huge pinch-me moment!

For me, hairstyling isn’t just about making people look good—it’s about transformation, confidence, and creativity. Whether I’m working with a celebrity, a brand, or on a shoot, my goal is always the same: to create beauty that feels effortless, modern, and truly iconic!
