Hi Dery, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Growing up as a third-culture-kid between New York and Germany led me to find songwriting as my outlet, and has stayed a constant presence during all travels, etc.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I’m not sure there is such a thing as a smooth road since everyone faces multiple struggles along the way. I am still finding a way to create music that feels light and easy (:
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I work as a songwriter and freelance photographer specializing in portraiture, press photos, and album covers – having multiple creative disciplines to draw from is a really lovely privilege.
How do you think about happiness?
Writing and playing music truly does bring me a lot of joy so does hiking, drawing, knitting, exercising, cooking, exploring, drinking coffee, etc. I also have a wild imagination and find myself laughing with friends a lot over absurd scenarios we dream up.
