Rising Stars: Meet David Delgado of Los Angeles

Today we’d like to introduce you to David Delgado

Hi David, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’ve always had a thing for creating visuals—it’s kind of my world. My background is in graphic design, but in 2010, photography became this dedicated passion of mine. Back then, I was all about HDR photography, especially landscapes and cityscapes. It was fresh and exciting at the time.

By 2015, though, I moved away from HDR and got really into travel photography. I started blending landscapes with street photography, capturing those little human moments that tell a story. Around 2019, I was still doing a lot of travel and street work, exploring places like Morocco and Spain, which had this incredible energy to shoot.

Fast forward to 2023, and I’ve found myself drawn to editorial and fashion photography. Working with models has been such a cool shift—I love the creative process and the connection you build during a shoot. It’s become my favorite style to work in, at least for now.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It’s been exciting diving into editorial-style and fashion photography—I’ve learned so much in just a year. But it definitely hasn’t been all smooth sailing. When I started, I didn’t have a clue about using the right gear or how to work with light properly to avoid those little imbalances on the subject’s face.

One of the biggest challenges, though, has been figuring out how to approach clients. I’m still working on building a solid strategy for that since I’m pretty new to this niche. It’s a learning curve, but I’m taking it one step at a time!

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m a photographer specializing in commercial work like fashion, editorial-style photography, and portraits. People know me for my outdoor city vibe and film-like aesthetic, as well as for capturing moments that make my subjects feel confident and at ease.

What I’m most proud of is my vision—whether it’s composition or editing, I love creating something that stands out. What really sets me apart is my laid-back approach when working with people. I make sure shoots are relaxed and enjoyable, so the process feels natural and easy for everyone involved.

What matters most to you? Why?
Recently, I’ve realized that what matters most to me is connection—whether it’s with people, relationships, my work, or the world around me. Without connection, it’s hard to make progress or truly understand each other.

As a photographer, I love creating that sense of connection through my images, whether it’s capturing the story behind a photo or building a meaningful relationship with my subjects.

Why? Because connection brings everything together. It’s what makes moments memorable and meaningful.
