Today we’d like to introduce you to Danielle Porter
Hi Danielle, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My friend Ashley and I met working at a bar over 10 years ago! While talking over margaritas one day, I showed her a few trailer bars that I was interested in. I asked her if she would want to branch out and start our own business. She immediately said yes! And that was exactly what I needed. I needed my best friend to give me the push, I felt like I always had these ideas but never pursued them. Ashley is definitely the go getter out of the two of us! We started researching and found a local food truck dealer that made custom trailers. 3 months after making the big jump we bought a trailer to be built as a trailer bar! We now have 3 bars in total, a trailer bar, Champagne cart, and a bar cart! And hopefully more in the future! We’ve had some set back, but we are continuing to get our name out there!
How we came up with the name Dashhbar, it is sort of a play on words, My name is Dani and her name is Ashley ( ashh) so together we make Dashh. We liked it because we are a mobile bar and we Dashh around to each event. Or we add just a Dashh of bitters. haha
I am very proud of where we are right now, we are a Woman owned business, we are mothers and also best friends.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It has definatly been an interesting road, Starting a business is never easy. There are so many things you have to get done and make sure you have.
About 2 weeks after we bought our trailer I found out I was pregnant! So here I am starting a new business and becoming a mother all at the same time. It was a lot too process, and a bit overwhelming. Our trailer took about 7 month to be built, once it was ready I picked it up 9 months pregnant. I wasn’t ready to work right away so we waited till my son was a little older. Also within that time, my partner Ashley lost her grandmother, that she was as taking care of. It was a great loss.
We didn’t get to start off the way we imagined, it has taken us a year to start getting more jobs. But we have worked some really great ones and have met some amazing clients along the way.
If anyone out there is thinking about starting their own business or pursing a goal. The time is now. I know it can be scary, and may not seem like the right time. If I didn’t have my friend to push me, I wouldn’t have either. It has been the best decision we made. There will always be challenges in everything you do, but if you have a dream, it’s time to make it a reality!
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
We are a mobile bartending business called Dashhbar. We have a trailer, champagne cart, and a bar cart. We work weddings to birthdays and everything in between.
What makes me proud is working with my best friend, we also have very supporting husbands that help us when needed. We are starting small and hopefully getting bigger.
Our trailer bar is very unique, there are a lot of horse trailer bars out there. Ours looks a little different. It’s small but mighty, its only 7 feet so it can fit in most spaces. We have a freezer, fridge, LED lighting, and running water in our trailer. Hopefully soon we will be adding a kegerator too!
What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
We are based out of Pasadena, but my partner just recently relocated to Santa Clarita. We will travel anywhere in between!
I really love Pasadena, its such a nice little city, Great places to eat, bars, and we even have the Rosebowl for concerts or other events. I would say the thing I like least about Pasadena would be the traffic, but that’s just Living in LA.
