Today we’d like to introduce you to Christy Powers.
Hi Christy, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My career started in Miami Beach when I was around 11 years old. My mom was singing at a restaurant and I was dancing with her when a scout from Next Models approached us and asked “would you like to model ?” This is where my journey began. I was too young for Next, but just right for World of Kids agency. I was sent to a casting and was hired for my first job “Coca Cola.” I knew right away that this was what I was destined to do. I got to work alongside some of the most amazing photographers from all over the world, met the greatest group of friends and booked numerous campaigns with brands such as Teen Vogue, Limited Too, Adidas, Nickelodeon and so many more. After graduating high school, I decided to go outside of my comfort zone and move across the country to North Hollywood, California. I was blessed to have the love and support of my family. It didn’t take long for me to fall in love with the west coast and settle in. I signed with Wilhelmina Models and started a new chapter of my life. I began working with designers such as Banana Republic, Michael Costello, British Vogue, Maxim, Elle Decor and various others. I started feeling as if I had reached a plateau in life and couldn’t overcome the thought that there was more for me out there. This isn’t surprising though, I come from a family of strong women where settling has never been an option. I decided to take the leap and use my platform to take my career to the next level. Now I live life to the fullest. I travel the world creating the most amazing content while doing what I have always dreamed of. Everyday brings a new experience and I am continually evolving into the best version of myself.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
As a child model, I had to make sacrifices like balancing school, playing basketball and dance. As an adult, it only gets harder. I had to learn to take harsh criticism with a smile, have all of my imperfections put on a spotlight and not let the no’s discourage me.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a full-time professional fashion model circling the globe.
I specialize in Modeling, photography, acting, Social media influencing and marketing.
I am known for being the honest friend who loves traveling and her french bulldog Oscar.
I am most proud of the person that I have become despite all of the obstacles I have had to face.
I am extremely motivated and love to inspire others to pursue their dreams.
What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
Never take the most important people in my life for granted.
