Rising Stars: Meet Christopher Hester

Today we’d like to introduce you to Christopher Hester.

Hi Christopher, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I recently moved to LA at the end of the height of the pandemic in 2020. During quarantine, I decided to move to LA to pursue my passion in modeling and music. Upon moving to LA, I have modeled for various e-commerce brands, videos and most recently snagged apart as a model in a national commercial. I am now signed to clear talent group for commercial/print modeling. With music, I have been lucky enough to be signed to Firestarter entertainment for Musical theater and voice-over work. Upcoming, I will have my west coast debut in the ensemble of the sound of music at the La Mirada Theater in La Mirada, CA. You can also watch me on an unscripted series soon to air on MTV 🙂 I thank God and my family/friends for their unwavering support in me and my dreams. I hope to inspire others that want to follow their dreams that anything is possible. Integrity, passion, and perseverance will take anyone down the right path.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
One of the struggles I faced and still face in modeling are the stereotypes that all models are one size. Especially for men! The expectation is that male models should all be shredded 365 days a year – for me this is not the case. I love that I get to represent an authentic body image that will maybe inspire someone else to love themselves. In music, we are often given opportunities based on “type” or the way an individual fits into Broadway archetypes. Most of the time, people of color are put into a box. One of my goals is to be a black prince in Roger and Hammerstein’s Cinderella.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a musician/actor/model and teacher. I specialize in musical theater/pop music. I am doing mostly commercials and print work for now, hopefully tv and film soon! I am most proud of the National commercial I just filmed. It was a huge production which was very nerve-wracking but it was a dream come true. I am also proud of all the music I’ve learned for audition season

Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
Moving across the country (from Boston to LA) to follow my dreams was a HUGE risk as I was sacrificing my job, a relationship, and the comfort of being around people I knew and loved. As I reflect on the journey I’ve taken, I notice that each time I let go of something, and even better opportunity arises. Taking risks means walking by faith and not by sight. If you asked millionaires about their journey, I bet they would all have a chapter in their book about calculated risks.
