Today we’d like to introduce you to Christine Solomon.
Hi Christine, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I first started on stage when I was quite little. I had such a wonderful time. My drama teacher pushed me to pursue acting professionally, so I did. Theatre school was amazing. The school taught me a lot about myself, the world, and the craft itself.
After theatre school, I started working and traveling which got me so many opportunities. I am someone who likes to plan and organize ahead. Early on in my childhood, I came up with a plan of action for my career (which I still have a copy of amazingly enough! lol) and the direction I wanted to go, and I immediately began carrying it out. And it helped me get where I am now.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Nothing in life is easy; you must work hard, have a variety of plans, and, most importantly, have faith in yourself. You must use intentional thinking and avoid repeating what isn’t working. Instead, switch things up and look for alternative routes to your goal.
There were far too many struggles and still are at times. Too many downs, too many yeses that were actually no, and too many no’s. I felt frustrated at times but never gave up. I don’t believe in giving up. I believe in trying new things and reevaluating some approaches. I make changes if anything isn’t working.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m a Canadian actress from Montreal’s West Island. I’ve done voiceover work, commercials, theatre, television series, and movies. I am fascinated by all things artistic and I love every facet of this industry.
I also love helping others which is why I started Muze Consultancy (www.muzeconsultancy.com) in 2010. It’s an acting career consultancy that was established to offer both aspiring and established actors professional guidance and creative support.
In addition to Muze, I also started my own publishing company, Hill Weiser (www.hillweiser.com), since I love to write. I’ve already released a few notebooks, planners, and a children’s book called Odd Ed (illustrations by the very talented Anastasia Balobanova) that has gotten a lot of great reviews. This year, I’m releasing Wishing Upon A New Moon, my second children’s book. Nataliia Mazepa (that’s too i’s in her name) created the artwork. She is such a creative powerhouse, and it was a pleasure working with her. My Author Event for my new book will take place at Barnes and Noble the Grove on July 29th at 2pm.
My most recent film Jacir, a film by Waheed AlQawasmi starring Malek Rahbani, Academy award Nominee Lorraine Bracco and Tutweezy, received multiple awards and is currently circling many movie theaters across the USA. Tickets are available at www.jacirmovie.com.
I am currently working with Galderma Canada as a spokesperson for their Rosacea campaigns.
With whatever I accomplish, I take great pride. It’s difficult to single out one accomplishment that I’m most proud of since doing so negates all the other accomplishments that came before it, all of which should also be reasons for pride.
What sets me apart is that I have a gift for inspiring others. I love being inspired myself, and I would love to be remembered as someone who inspired others. The fact that so many individuals I’ve inspired are now pursuing their dreams and staying in touch with me motivates and encourages me on a regular basis.
Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
Undoubtedly, I like to take risks. I can’t even begin to tell you how many chances I have taken in my life. If you don’t take any risks, you won’t be able to move forward in life. You’ll resemble a stagnant pond.
Despite not being able to read or write Arabic, I took a risk by moving to Cairo, Egypt to work as an actor. I left the country when I was seven, and returning without knowing anything was another risk. But if I had not taken that chance, I would not have had the opportunity to work with such bright and creative individuals, meet so many wonderful people, and create such wonderful memories. I also would not have earned an award for my work on Heliopolis.
Another risk is when I moved to LA to pursue my career. Another BIG city. And even bigger challenges. Venturing into a new business is another risk. But you experience many learning opportunities that help you move forward in life.
