Today we’d like to introduce you to Bylle Stasi.
Hi Bylle, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I started off as a hairstylist but doing make-up on the side for various events or photo shoots. One day I was working on set, and a British actress I was doing make-up for had on eyelash extensions (this was back in 2013). I had always hated the look of strip eyelashes and loved the idea of an alternative. At that time, there weren’t any courses you could take like there are now. I just went into some deep research, and while they were already popular in London and quickly spreading, there were only two or three people in Los Angeles that had experience with them. So, I called one of them, and she told me to bring a model and come spend the day with her in Woodland Hills, and she would teach me. It took me hours to apply even a fraction of what I can do now in 90 minutes, but I was obsessed! After that, I slowly started molding my business into just lash services, and after ten years of just lash extensions in West Hollywood, I added brow services and permanent make-up. It’s so important for people to feel confident about themselves when they make eye contact, and I love assisting with that part of their lives.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
My road has been very blessed. The people I’ve been able to work with and the clients that come back are all real lights in my life. Living and working in Los Angeles always has its challenges, but I try to stay inspired as much as possible. The pandemic was the roughest part of my journey because there was so much uncertainty, but it also gave me time to really think about what where I wanted to go with my business. During that time, my husband (a photographer) was expanding his business and really wanted more space for his work. The Arts District was really the only way he could get the square footage for a decent price, so we opened our minds to moving downtown. I have always worked on or near Robertson Boulevard in West Hollywood since I moved to LA over twenty years ago, so I never thought about a business anywhere else. But I have to admit he was onto something. After two years of living in the South Park area, I have to say I love it! My new lash and brow studio just opened on September 4 in the Metropolis building, and I love the community. There is always something to be inspired by down here! New restaurants are always opening; live music and art are everywhere. The vibe is completely different than the west side, but my west side clients seem to be loving it as well.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am probably most known for my eyelash extensions and the brand I created for other lash artists. STAY. Pro Lashes is a line of products launched in 2020 that consists of everything I use as a lash artist. My Penumbra Megavolume lashes and the quick-drying. Long-retention glue are the most popular item. It took years of trying different products and then many more years of finding the right manufacturers. All of the lashes and glue are made in Korea, while my tweezers and scissors are manufactured in Turkey. I am proud of the companies I work with, and I think it sets my products apart because I’m not just sourcing things that are cheap or popular. If I don’t use it, I don’t carry it. Clients who get their lashes done with me (or other artists who use my products) often work on camera so their lashes can’t look inconsistent or plastic. They also can’t afford to have the glue irritate their eyes, and when I can’t see them for weeks at a time because they are filming, the lashes have to stay (which is where I got the name).
How do you think about happiness?
Happiness is pretty easy for me because I work with people, and I find people interesting. The more diversity I can get in one day, the better for me. As long as there is inspiration around and I’m always working towards enrichment, I’m happy. My friend group is also extremely fun and irreplaceable, so that certainly helps.
