Today we’d like to introduce you to Brooke Olson
Brooke, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My journey really began while I was attending Cal State University Fullerton, studying Animation and Entertainment Art. During my first year at CSUF, I started releasing content on social media. The idea of combining my passion for art with interest in video content gave me a space to express myself and pursue my dreams of being in entertainment.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Originally, I had thought that moving back home in 2020 due to the pandemic would really affect my college experience. It was a rough start due to the fact I felt I was left without any guidance. I then threw myself into making video content while also doing remote learning. Making content on TikTok during the pandemic turned out to help me in many ways. It began to build and raise my confidence. I really enjoyed entertaining others and connecting with other content creators and followers on the app.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I mainly specialize in video content creation and art. On social media, I create content ranging from short-videos to illustrations/character designs. I love posting things that relate to my current interests. It helps me find and build community with others. One of the projects I am most proud of is my graduation photocards. I wanted to do something unique for my college graduation so I came up with the idea of creating graduation photocards of myself to give to friends and family. Everyone knows that I love K-pop so just like K-pop idols do, I created different variations of myself as photocards to hand out. I designed the photocards with design elements inspired by my favorite group TWICE. I even made a video documenting it and posted it on social media. It blew up an garnered a million views on Instagram!!! I was so happy to show off this project to others and the K-pop community. Before I knew it, people were tagging me in their videos inspired by my project. That was a great time.
Do you any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
My favorite childhood memory would definitely be visiting Las Vegas with my siblings. We would go all the time to visit my grandparents. Occasionally we would visit the casinos for their buffets and this one particular casino had a great buffet that we all loved. Well, we wouldn’t visit them all the time and that would upset my younger brother. He would get so upset because he would have to eat and grandmas and not the chocolate fountain the casino had. During this one trip, my mom was so over his tantrums that she asked me to keep him distracted so he wouldn’t see the casino as we were pulling into the city. I did my best to distract him by showing him videos on my iPod touch, but the moment he realized we were driving past it, he began screaming and throwing a tantrum. It was just so funny to see the realization on his face. Everyone in the car was just shaking their head. Now that we’re grown, we still joke we’ll take him back one day for the chocolate fountain and unlimited pastries.
