In 2016, Brianca took a leap of faith and relocated to Atlanta, where she laid the foundation for her illustrious career in the entertainment industry as a TV producer. It was here that she immersed herself in the dynamic world of television production, gaining invaluable experience in various facets of the craft.
Recognizing the importance of continuous growth and mentorship, Brianca seized an incredible opportunity in 2020 when she was accepted into the highly acclaimed Hillman Grad Writer’s Mentorship Lab. This prestigious program provided her with a nurturing environment to refine her screenwriting skills and connect with industry professionals who recognized her immense talent.
Upon completing the mentorship program, Brianca’s journey took an exciting turn as she continued to soar under the guidance of the remarkable Executive Producer, Writer, and Actress Lena Waithe. I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
A smooth road may be rare in the world of filmmaking and storytelling, but it’s through challenges that we truly grow. Nothing worth having comes easy, and my journey has been a testament to that.
Imposter syndrome and the constant need to prove myself in a predominantly white male-dominated industry were some of the initial struggles I faced. Overcoming these obstacles required me to cultivate confidence, embrace my unique perspective, and challenge the gatekeepers of the status quo.
However, every challenge I encountered grounded and groomed me into the artist I am today. These obstacles have shaped my resilience, deepened my passion, and strengthened my commitment to amplifying underrepresented voices through my work.
