Today we’d like to introduce you to Brent H. Robinson.
Hi Brent, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I began writing short mystery stories and screenplays when I was twelve. Rod Serling and Agatha Christie inspired me to become a mystery writer at a young age, they are my most favorite storytellers. After graduating from high school in 2018, I went to New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts Film and Television program and in my off time, I would study the art of storytelling and practice putting proper plot points together in a story in order to have a substantial plot twist at the end of the story. I would repeat that process over and over and it paid off to where I earned my first writing award at the 2020 Cinematic Writers Awards in San Diego, California. After that, I began school at Full Sail University to study Cinematography, and that was when I published my first book, The Appointant, which originally started out as a screenplay.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
I would be lying if I told you it has been smooth, however, I don’t focus too much on small struggles and challenges. I keep my positive mindset and consistency heavy. Of course, storytelling has obstacles such as Writer’s Block, which falls into procrastination, and I also question myself on whether an idea is good or bad, but I always remind myself why I chose this career in the first place and that is because I love to tell stories. So whenever I might procrastinate with a story, I remind myself how much joy this brings me and the next thing I know, I finished the book.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am an author that specializes in the genre of Mystery and Thrillers, Supernatural Fiction, and Suspense. I am most proud of my persistence and the fact that I have been known to have my own storytelling style which makes me different from other Authors. The ability to give my reading audience full knowledge through the visual imagery I create through words. I believe the main tool I have that sets me apart from other storytellers is my consistency.
Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
People may not know that my family and I run a 501 (c) (3) Non-Profit organization named, Robinson Foundation. Our foundation helps families without homes and also donate to support anyone suffering from mental illnesses.
