Rising Stars: Meet Bo Metz and Nick Kretz

Today we’d like to introduce you to Bo Metz and Nick Kretz.

BOMME STUDIO’s mission is to create conscious low-impact apparel for our retailers and our loyal customers but also to support entrepreneurs, designers and brands that are interested in doing business more ethically and sustainably. Based in Los Angeles, California we are a men’s and women’s clothing line and a full-package development house/clothing manufacturer offering a full range of services in product development, apparel production, brand consulting and digital marketing. Additionally, we provide custom build and made-to-order services for film, television and entertainment productions. Bo studied both Fashion Design and Fashion Merchandising to pursue a design/apparel manufacturing career that has straddled both the high-end apparel industry and the motion picture costuming world for more than 20 years. This experience lends a unique sensibility and eye to product development and manufacturing. In 2018, Bo Metz met Nick Kretz and their partnership was a perfect match. Having a decade of marketing experience working for tech startups and digital agencies, Nick led the 800% growth of BOMME STUDIO in the US market. In early 2020, the pair founded the next stage of the company and were married later that year.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Growing from a small consulting design practice to a full-scale domestic manufacturer with no outside funding has definitely been a bumpy road but the successes we have experienced have been proud moments for us and our entire team because the results have been 100% solely due to our hard work and passion to lead change in the apparel industry. Staying the course with no guarantees and operating on blind faith. It’s the ‘not giving up part’.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
We are a clothing line first but also consider ourselves to be environmental and garment worker labor activists. Along the way, we have also discovered a passion for incubating other like-minded emerging brands and designers. We provide brand consulting, apparel production, sample development, growth marketing and sales to start-up to mid-sized brands who are interested in ethical labor and sustainability.

How do you define success?
Leave things better than you found them. Do better. Be better.
