Today we’d like to introduce you to Ben Cohen.
Hi Ben, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Infinite Purple is an all-genre music blog and weekly silent-disco that came about from three music-obsessed friends who have a love for finding new music and sharing it with others! We discovered our mutual love for music when djing together and constantly meeting to see live performances of our favorite artists, and realized that we each had a very similar yet diverse taste in music. We also had a similar urge to do something more than just make playlists for our friends and coworkers. We acquired a website, made social media accounts, acquired a logo and began writing blog posts on our favorite songs and keeping a pulse on new music that was coming out weekly. Though the Infinite Purple music blog is still growing to where we want it to be, we have received love and recognition from many of our favorite artists that we have written on along the way.
We are also excited to have been able to support friends who are releasing music and readers of the blog who submit their music to be featured. While starting the blog, we also realized the possibility of throwing a venue-free and noise-free party that would bring people together to enjoy the mutual love of music and good company, and thus started the Infinite Purple Sunset Silent Disco. We acquired everything we needed and started throwing weekly silent disco parties on the beach where we would dj, dance, and enjoy the sunset with friends. As the disco has evolved, there has been a beautiful community that has emerged around the events, consisting of music lovers, sunset fiends, and good people of all shapes and sizes.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The music industry is tough, and no story comes without speed bumps! Though there are the obvious struggles of gaining traction online and getting sand in your dj mixer, we have dealt with other hurdles along the way as well. As things come up, we work together to come up with the best solution to ensure the safety and enjoyment of our events and the quality of our blog.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
As a group, we have an online music blog at www.infinite-purple.com and host weekly silent disco parties on the beach when weather permits. We also do private parties and collaborations with other brands! Personally, I dj and am building on my (more basic) knowledge of music production.
Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
Infinite Purple is based around the love of all kinds of music, but we gravitate towards dance music and anything with a bit of funk.
