Rising Stars: Meet Beast Williams

Today we’d like to introduce you to Beast Williams.

Hi Beast, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
It all started from dance. I started out as a dancer in New York at a very young age, doing battle competitions then hitting big stages performing for Ted Ex, BET and other platforms. I was so used to being in front of camera and one day, I said to myself I want to see what it would be like behind the camera. My mom (Joann Williams) then bought me my first camera and I began shooting videos and taking photos. I then went to college for Film Making. It was in college I realized I loved Photography. I then fully jumped into photography, soon after I met my mentor Chad Pennington. From meeting Chad he opened a new world I never expected. We begin to travel the world shooting taking photos and taking the world by storm.

I’ve shot beside Chad for over seven years and realized Los Angeles was the place for me. I then moved to LA.

I moved to LA where things were totally different from New York. I soon got a job driving Uber to finically support myself. In doing so I came across people in high places in the entertainment industry who gave a likeness to me and gave me opportunities. I soon started doing shoots for Marsai Martin and other celebrities.

Then one day, I stumbled across Terrence J’s live on Instagram where we spoke and he gave me an opportunity that would change things forever. He invited me to come shoot for him one day, loved my work ethic and invited me to shoot for him for next few days. We’ve soon built a brotherhood, and I began shooting for him full-time. He took me under his wing and showed me the ropes, brought me in rooms with names I couldn’t imagine… Introducing me to tons of legends in the game like Diddy & Lenny S, & with hard work and dedication, I would soon find myself shooting June Ambrose, Beyonce, Jay-Z, BRE-Z and more.

As a child, if you would’ve told me a project kid from Brooklyn would accomplish so much in life from just having a camera, I would’ve told you “Anything is possible if you “Follow Your Dreams”…

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Things has never been a smooth road. I’m a young black man from Brooklyn who wanted to be a photographer. Growing up that wasn’t Ideal. We’ve all faced obstacles and challenges, but you have to put God first and know that these obstacles shall pass and you have to keep grinding and push for greatness.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a professional photographer based in Los Angeles. I specialize in portraits and event photography. I am known for my vibrant and life feeling photos. Photos that you get a feeling from as if you were present when the photo was captured. I’m most proud that I’ve made my mother proud. I come from a household of educators, lawyers and doctors. So to be the creative in the family wasn’t Ideal. My most proudest moment is when my mom was introducing me to her friend, she had the biggest smile and said “This is my son, he’s a photographer he travels all over taking celebrity’s photos”. I knew she was proud of me but I’ve never heard her say and say it with that much love.

What sets me apart from others is; I’m just built different. I’m built to hustle, learn and execute. I’m going to get the job done faster and better than your average person.

Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
Something surprising that most people don’t know about me, I love classical and jazz music. It’s very soothing and calming.
