Rising Stars: Meet Bailey York

Today we’d like to introduce you to Bailey York.

Bailey York

Hi Bailey, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Picture this: a regular nine-to-fiver, sitting at a desk day on endless Zoom calls (that could’ve been a meeting), and feeling like there had to be something more to life. That something turned out to be a passion for fitness and a desire to make a real impact on people’s lives.

So, I took the leap of faith. I said goodbye to the corporate world and dove headfirst into the world of wellness. Armed with determination and a love for helping others, my new beginning began.

One of the pivotal moments was when I completed my 200-hour yoga teacher training (RYT). It felt like I had discovered my true calling. Teaching came naturally to me, and it wasn’t long before I found myself guiding students through powerful flows and helping them discover inner strength they never knew they had.

But yoga was just the beginning. I also delved into personal training, combining my passion for fitness with my knack for teaching. Success came knocking pretty quickly. There’s something incredibly rewarding about seeing the transformations in people’s lives, both physically and mentally.

Fast forward to today…here I am, living my passion every single day. Whether I’m leading a yoga class, pushing someone to reach their fitness goals, or simply spreading positivity and encouragement, I feel like I’m exactly where I’m meant to be.

I’ve experienced my ups and downs. But every twist and turn has only fueled my passion and strengthened my dream to make a difference in the lives of others. If my story can inspire even just one person to chase their dreams, then it’s all been worth it.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It’s felt like a rollercoaster ride. Hustling every day is no joke. It’s like that saying goes: every hour you’re not working, you’re not making money. So, I became a pro at squeezing productivity out of every minute, even if it meant mastering the art of eating lunch in my car while driving to different jobs.

Having a wide range of clients is a blessing, and I’m very grateful for. That being said, each one comes with their own unique personality and energy, which means I have to be very intentional and protective of my energy.

I experienced burnout and plenty of self-doubt. There were days when I questioned if I was cut out for this or if I should just throw in the towel and go back to something more stable. Thankfully, I learned the importance of self-care the hard way. I schedule all my workout sessions and mandatory bubble baths for rest days.

Lastly, finances. I won’t speak too much on that, but lesson learned: always double-check who you’re getting into business with.

Through all the ups, downs, twists, and turns, I’ve learned more than I ever could’ve imagined. Every stumble taught me something new, and every setback made me stronger. So yeah, it might not have been smooth sailing, but where’s the fun in that anyway?

Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m a personal trainer, yoga and Pilates instructor, and the founder of BAYLATES.

When it comes to my work, I have a reputation for dishing out some seriously challenging workouts. It’s not just getting a good sweat in. I’m all about sprinkling in a little inspiration, a dash of connection, and a whole lot of motivation to help my clients shine bright in every aspect of their lives.

What really gets me smiling is the journey. I’m proud that I’ve been able to transform not just my body but my mind too. Through the power of meditation and a lot of self-reflection, I’ve seen firsthand how we can heal from within. While many trainers focus solely on nutrition and fitness (and those are important too!), I believe in nurturing the soul as well. It’s all about that positive self-talk, mindset, and fostering behaviors that light up your life.

So, what sets me apart from the rest? Besides my EDM + hip-hop fused yoga playlists, it’s my dedication to nurturing not just your physical health but your mental and emotional well-being too. When you’re glowing from the inside out, there’s no limit to what you can achieve.

Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
It’s no secret that technology has been revolutionizing the way we approach fitness, and that trend is only going to continue. From wearable tech that tracks your every move to virtual reality workouts that transport you to another world. I’m a little nervous for more integration of AI and personalized fitness experiences in the coming years because nothing beats true, genuine human connection.

I do see the rise of boutique and specialized fitness studios. With so many options out there, people are gravitating towards more niche workouts that cater to their specific interests and goals. And I don’t see this trend slowing down anytime soon.

The importance of inclusivity and diversity in the fitness world. More and more people are demanding representation and accessibility in their workouts, and rightfully so. I think we’ll see a continued push towards creating inclusive spaces that welcome people of all backgrounds, abilities, and body types. I make it clear and vocalize in my classes to ensure that everyone knows that they are radically loved, accepted, and respected, especially by me.

Lastly, thanks to the pandemic, virtual fitness became more popular than ever, and it’s not going anywhere. Even as in-person classes make a comeback, I think we’ll see a continued demand for online and hybrid fitness options.

So, while I can’t say for sure what the future holds, I’m confident BAYLATES is heading in the right direction.
