Today we’d like to introduce you to Twinkle Zaman
Hi Twinkle, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Writing ‘Love Notes- Single Hearts Affairs’ has been a whole journey in itself. What started out with me kind of jotting down my thoughts and feelings turned into a book. Sometimes when I was writing they weren’t even full sentences or thoughts. I decided to keep the book that way. It definitely makes it unique and lets the reader make their own discoveries. My book has so many messages. One of the main focuses in my own personal story that aligns with the book I would say is woman empowerment. This is a tricky topic because I don’t mean that in a way how people may think I do. I think one of the most magical times of my life was making so many new discoveries about myself. It opened so many doors to my mind. What started out as that simple message has now grown with me. For me now it has a deeper meaning. I know the kind of woman I want to be. I also believe there are important roles we have as women that we have forgotten as a society. I know I can’t fix the world but in my own world I hope to create a life where I get to be her. There are so many versions of myself that I have not met yet and I think that’s the exciting part of my story.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Anytime you put your heart out there it’s scary. That was probably my biggest ‘struggle’. Still can be. You don’t know how it will be received and it can send you down a dark path in your mind. Writing poetry is different than other genres. I think if you are connected to your work there is no way to avoid those things.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Writing has been apart of my life as long as I can remember. My poetry isn’t like your typical poetry. If you read the book front to back it’s a whole journey. Also the cool thing is you don’t have to read the whole book and you can just pick a few pages to read for that day and it’ll still make sense. I would say I’m most proud of sharing such a vulnerable side of myself. It’s a part of me most wouldn’t even know that exists. As for future books I’ve written my first romance novel. I can’t say much about it but I’m pretty excited about it. It’s been a process. These things take so much time. I know it’ll make it out when the time is right.
Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
I could literally have a seven day conversation about this! Do I consider myself risk taker? Absolutely! I don’t even know where to start with this to be honest. I’m a conscious person. I think things through….i always weight the pros and cons but I can also be implosive at times. I’m not a “oh someday…” when I get an idea I’m like I have to do it now! There’s no other way. I will say it’s one of my few qualities I do like about myself because I would hate to be someone who just has all these dreams but never took action. With all that being said there’s always that obvious down side of being that way too. One of the biggest risks I took was publishing my book. There were so many ‘what if’s’ but I know it was meant to be out in the world.
