Rising Stars: Meet Ashley Sims

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashley Sims.

Ashley Sims

Hi Ashley, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My name is Ashley Sims. I’m a content creator, wife, mom of two, and entrepreneur. I’m originally from the San Fernando Valley (818 babyyyy) and have lived up and down California. I’m currently in the Inland Empire but LA is somewhere I frequent, especially the valley— it will always feel like home. My earliest memories are of me as a girl who loved performing in school plays, fashion shows, and talent shows. I’ve always enjoyed performing & coming alive while being on stage, consumed by nerves but beaming with joy. It’s no surprise to me why I enjoy making content now; you get to tell your life story in a fun way. Becoming a mom was a huge milestone in my life, as much as I resisted “getting lost in motherhood”– it happened, but not in the way I thought it would. I’m grateful to be married to my college sweetheart, someone who has seen many different versions of me & brings out the best in every version. Having a partner who is truly a life teammate and creating a family is one of the biggest accomplishments of my life.

The start of the pandemic in 2020 was the year creating content became a hobby for so many people, myself included, though I didn’t feel like I fit in within the “mommy blogger” mold. I wasn’t allowing myself to be open with the struggle of it, wanting to feel like I’ve got it put together. I’ve fostered an amazing community; I truly feel supported– this is another notable accomplishment for me. I’m looking forward to taking a leap of faith & seeing if I’m able to take these silly little ideas of mine & bring them to life (spoiler alert: I know I can and will). So much has changed since I’ve started– like how much my confidence in myself and knowledge of the influencer industry. I’ve also realized I enjoy the action from behind the scenes. Daydreaming & getting lost in ideas are my favorite part of the creative process– it’s something I know it’ll be beneficial when I lean into my deep desire to help other creators. This year is different; my content will be shifting & I’m excited to show up more boldly and authentically than I ever have before. Wisdom and experience have been accumulated throughout the years, and I’m looking forward to trusting my gifts to help attract opportunities with ease– I’m open. Most of all, I’m so happy to embrace this transformation within myself– it’s led me exactly where I’m supposed to be, and I’m looking forward to helping other creators in their journeys.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Is it ever smooth? But becoming honest with myself made me realize what made the journey feel harder: myself. I recently read “The Mountain is You” by Brianna Wiest (well listened to because I’m an audiobook girly through & through), and it was right on time. If it’s been on your reading Wishlist, I can’t recommend it enough. I’ve also learned that it may take some time for things to “click”, but everything happens and when it’s supposed to!

I’ve been fortunate to have help and support throughout my life, people have always wanted to see me win. I think the problem has always been feeling like I wasn’t deserving of it or worth it. Happy to say therapy has been a huge help for me! If you’ve been considering it, I highly encourage you to take advantage of any resources available to you– we all deserve to be liberated from a life riddled with limiting beliefs. That has been my greatest obstacle and happy to say I’m done being hard-headed and stubborn. I’m so happy to be in a space where I’m ready to receive help and not be so shy to ask, this is what will take this journey far– leaning into community.

Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’ve enjoyed the evolution of my content creation and look forward to what it will look like a year from now! I have these great ideas and look forward to building a team to help me bring them to life. I’m also really excited for collaboration, this is where magic really happens. What comes before anything is being well so I can be the best mom– I’m happy that life has put us in a position to be so involved in our kids’ lives (remote work being the norm is one of the best things to come from the pandemic idc idc). I feel like some days I am doing amazing, and other days I’m getting jumped! I’m allowing myself to pour into career development, personal projects, and even bigger projects that have me tingling with excitement. I’d say the biggest thing I;m focusing on is nurturing what excites me the most and allowing that to play out in a natural way.

I am also stepping into those gifts I mentioned before– we’ll see where that takes me 🙂

Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
Being authentic and honest, this has always helped me be true to who I am.  I feel like taking the time to get to know myself has truly redefined what being authentic means for me, in turn, helping me succeed.
