Today we’d like to introduce you to Anthony Martinez.
Hi Anthony, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I go by the artist name VEEZUZ — I’m a Dominican and Guatemalan artist born and raised in Los Angeles. Growing up, I experienced life in many different parts of the city, from Koreatown to South Central, and eventually the South Bay. My journey into music began in late 2018, shortly after being let go from my job at the time. What started as a difficult moment turned into a blessing, leading me to discover my passion for creating music.
Music has always been a part of my life. My father was a promoter who organized events and brought artists from places like the Dominican Republic and Central America to perform in LA. Watching those performances from backstage as a kid planted a seed in me early on — showing me what was possible with hard work and dedication.
Although I never initially saw myself becoming an artist, I eventually gravitated toward the craft and fell in love with the process. I recorded my first songs in a small shed in the backyard of our home in South Central, and over time, I worked my way into some of Los Angeles’ top recording studios — collaborating with some of the city’s most talented artists and engineers.
It’s been a long journey — one filled with challenges, growth, and unforgettable moments. Along the way, I’ve had the opportunity to land songs on the radio, perform across the city, and open for one of the Dominican Republic’s most recognized DJs, DJ Adonis, during his first-ever show in Los Angeles.
Today, I continue to create and share my story through music, staying grounded in faith and driven by the hope that my sound will reach people all over the world — and resonate with them just as deeply as it does with me.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road but I’ve enjoyed every bit of it. I’ve been signed to horrible management contracts, been guided by the wrong people, and have struggled with finding the right space for my music in the Latin market out in Los Angeles. Theres a very small space for opportunity in the Latin market in Los Angeles for music.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Im a recording artist and I specialize in Latin urban music, creating new sounds and vibes from trap infused beats, R&B, and even Afro Latin inspired music. What sets me apart from others is the originality in my music, I try my best to create music that is not only unique but still resonates with the world
If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
The ability to walk into any room and feel confident about my craft, being able to show my work knowing it’s something new and refreshing, and remaining humble at the same time. Staying grounded and staying focused.
