Rising Stars: Meet Angelo Narvaez

Today we’d like to introduce you to Angelo Narvaez.

Hi Angelo, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I grew up in South Florida in a town called Davie. There I was very close with my whole family. My cousins lived just down the street and my grandparents were only 30 minutes away. We spent so much time together while I was young that I always valued having that close connection with all my family members. My grandfather especially made an impact on the person I am today. He was a very successful businessman who had a passion for helping and learning about others. He would make friends everywhere he went and would have deep conversations with total strangers; this was all in an effort to learn anything and everything he could. He also loved to travel and would take my whole family on trips around the world where I was able to learn about so many different cultures and their values. The value he put on education and his interest in marketing helped shape my plan for college. I attended Chapman University, in Orange County, after graduating from high school. There I would earn my Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Marketing. I also decided to return to Chapman right after graduating for an additional year to get an MBA. During my MBA, I sought a position with de Castellane Creative and have settled with them as the Operations Manager handling delivery for our clients.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Everyone has bumps throughout their journey through life. Figuring out my career path has always been a challenge for me. My high school was very competitive, and most students wanted to be doctors or lawyers, but I did not see the appeal of going to school for so long. Fortunately, I always had my family to lean on and they were always helpful and supportive when I was making tough life decisions. They all were a major influence in helping me pinpoint my passions to make sure that I am in the right career doing positive things for myself and my community. Moving to California was also a big challenge for me as I had to leave my family that I was so used to being close to. When I came out here, I started to lay my roots down and accept that I would need to make more effort than simply driving down the street to see them. Looking for jobs after graduating was also a huge bump in the road. I graduated in the middle of the pandemic when the whole country was faced with uncertainty about the near future. Thankfully, I found de Castellane Creative that was a perfect fit for me. I have been able to grow and impact the company, which is very exciting for me.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
One thing that I love about my work is that I am constantly doing different things. It is fun to learn different areas of the business and learn what I truly like and what I do not like. I do anything from hiring and sales to IT support for de Castellane Creative. The main part of my job, however, is operations. This involves coordinating delivery for all of our clients and their needs. I am involved with strategy and meetings with clients to make sure all their wants and needs are being met. I also get to work closely with so many different members of our team from creative to sales. I really enjoy working collaboratively with others and learning more about their fields and strengths. I am proud of balancing my career and school simultaneously. It is sometimes a challenge finding time, but de Castellane Creative has been super supportive of me. Our approach to our clients is what sets us apart from others. We are always looking for new ways to market things since our digital world is constantly changing. Our approach is also results-driven, so we are willing to adapt our strategy to ensure our clients get what they need.

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
All of my favorite childhood memories revolve around my sister and my cousins. We were all very close in age, so we would spend a lot of time together. One particular memory I had was going to a water park in Florida together at the start of summer vacation. We had an absolute blast together going on the different rides and being in the sun all day. There was something about being on summer vacation and not having a care in the world that really made the day extra fun for me. We went on every single ride, but my favorite was one that was completely dark on the inside because we had no idea where the next turn or drop would be.
