Hi Andy, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I was raised by immigrant parents who taught me the importance of integrity, discipline, education and helping others. My dad who was raised fatherless, immigrated to the United States as a teenager, obtained a doctorate and later became a successful public affairs figure, pastor, and professor. Yet behind every successful man is a great woman. In the early years when finances were tight, my mom cleaned houses and my dad took on extra work. During that time, my siblings and I never went without and I bask on how my parents still found time to invest quantity and quality time with us kids. Their life instructions, practical examples, faith, and wisdom were intentionally handed to me. Today, I am humbled to share these life treasures and words of encouragement at andyramirez.org.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Mountains in life are never easy to face, let alone climb over. Yet, without these internal and external strains that dare to tear us apart, how would we ever obtain strong enough muscles to face life’s next obstacle? As a young man, I learned that having a stable career may not be your choice. When I was working as an on-air personality in Los Angeles, my boss took a job across the country and this left my once secure position highly vulnerable. Soon afterwards, I was jobless and trying to figure how to provide for my young family. Apparent opportunities vanished in front of my eyes and I found myself working as a part-time laborer with full-time despair and hopelessness. But then, my life radically changed when I received a call to work out of state and become a promotions director. My soon to be boss reminded me how encouraged he was from a distance to see my work ethic and character. To him, it was a no brainer to bring me into his company and make it successful.
