Rising Stars: Meet Andrew Lux

Today we’d like to introduce you to Andrew Lux

Hi Andrew, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
It was pretty much me playing instruments my whole life, dropping out of college, joining the Navy and producing while I was in. Then I left the navy to pursue music full time in LA and here I am!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Smooth? No, but luck has been on my side. Or maybe not even just luck, but not quitting when shit got tough. To be 100% honest, it’s still a tough and slow steady pace but I couldn’t imagine doing anything else. This is something just hitting me now, but even dating is tough when you’re an upcoming artist. I wanted to get few big accomplishments done like a tour or festivals before I even tried dating so when I meet her parents they aren’t disappointed and like “you’re dating a DJ?!” haha Also, wanna go on a date? Well you need money for dinners and trips but starting out in music, you wont make much for quite awhile. Live in LA? Well that date could be 10 miles away which means it’ll take you an hour to get there because of traffic. That could be time you may not have when you have writing/content deadlines. Vacations? HA. You know how bad I want to go to Japan? VERY BADLY. But I know its not a smart business move so I don’t go. I know if I keep working at my music I can afford to do all this eventually, maybe even get a show in Japan!

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m a music producer mainly, but I’m about to get my bachelors from LA Film in Audio Engineering so currently mixing and mastering on the side as well. I also got much better at producing social media content and have been getting job offers to help film/produce for other artists which has been pretty dope!

Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
Bad luck:

Leaving the Navy, a town home I owned, and a 100k job opportunity in 2019 to pursue music in LA, only to have the world shut down a few months later.

Good luck:

Being able to talk to artists on social media when the world was shut down like twitch where I met AC Slater and eventually got a song signed on Nightbass.

Carle booking me at Avalon Hollywood for my first LA gig when things started to open again who continued to help me throughout my career.

Meeting some of the best rave family I’ve ever had, shout out MyBPM!
