Rising Stars: Meet Andreas Galiano

Today we’d like to introduce you to Andreas Galiano.

Andreas Galiano

Hi Andreas, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My name is Andreas Calogero Galiano. I’m 22 years old, and my artist name is Andi Krush; I’m a singer and songwriter born in Germany to Sicilian parents. I have been interested in making music since I was a little kid. I started playing drums and listening to various music genres and quickly wanted to become a DJ first. I bought my first controller and started to release music on SoundCloud. At the age of sixteen, I saw Post Malone’s music video for “Congratulations” on Facebook which further ignited the fire in me to follow the music path and realize the dream of becoming a singer and songwriter.

My brother Salvatore Galiano, a songwriter, producer, and musician, made me grow up in a family with a musical feeling. In a little band rehearsal room, I spent long hours playing drums.

Once a week, I started going to the city of Sinsheim in Germany, where I worked with the ex-guitarist of the band LIQUIDO Tim Eiermann, whose professional name is Bonassis, and enjoyed my first experiences in recording music. Tim and I collaborated on different songs. Then, after two years, I started to travel to Los Angeles, meeting other musicians, producers, and songwriters, giving rise to new songs and inspirations.

In 2022, I met Jason Dauman, the CEO of Dauman Music. With his help, I became friends with Grammy-nominated music producer, musician, and songwriter Chico Bennett. Me, Chico, and Songwriter Gerina Di Marco collaborated and created the song “TAKE IT AWAY” in Chico’s studio in Burbank. After we did the original version of the song, Luigie “LUGO” Gonzalez did a Remix Version. “TAKE IT AWAY” reached position 14 on the club charts from “Music Week.”

Chico and I are working on a new EP called “Shadows Run” On the EP are six songs and two music videos we did in Los Angeles. With “Luigie Lugo Gonzalez” and Palmer Reed, we did the song “Purple Sky.” Also, I have a new song called “Estate Love,” which will be available on July 8th.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Moving to Los Angeles was difficult for me and my family; coming from Germany and trying to establish ourselves in LA was a big move. We sold our house and cars back in Germany to follow our music dream in Los Angeles, we sold everything, and It was not just a fun part because we had a lot of worries if things didn’t work.

Also, right after we came in 2020, there was covid, so it was a very dark period where we all suffered. In the EP “Shadows Run,” I discuss my fears, anxieties, depression, and self-doubt.

In the beginning, finding the right way in the music business was also challenging since I needed to gain experience in Los Angeles. Yet, I met a lot of producers, musicians, and songwriters, which helped me a lot by making experience and trying to understand how things worked.

In the beginning, it was a back-and-forth between Germany and Los Angeles; then, in the covid time when traveling was blocked, I stayed months in Sicily till I could finally return to work on my dream.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a singer and songwriter; I love to write and record songs with new ideas and melodies, and what I love the most is that through my music, I can express myself the way I want to and how it feels better to me. I go to music studios and work with producers, other musicians, and songwriters. We create songs from scratch from a simple guitar or voice melody recorded on the phone.

The thing that sets me apart from others, I’m trying to create a movement through my music, especially with my new upcoming EP. I talk about self-doubt, depression, and anxiety, millions of people are affected by these things, and I think it’s a good thing to open up more and talk about these things so that people will find support and see it from a different perspective so that we can help ourselves better if we support each other and make it more normal to talk about these things.

Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
Yes, Los Angeles is such an incredible city since I went to my first time to L.A. I immediately fell in love with the vibe of it and the people. I would describe it in five words, haha, “The city that never sleeps” because there’s so much going on day and night for me there is no difference if it’s Monday or Friday the people go out every day in bars, clubs, restaurants. In Germany, it’s not like that. You see the difference there if it’s Monday or Friday, but in Los Angeles, I couldn’t see the difference, which I find very cool.
