Today we’d like to introduce you to Ana Bejarano.
Hi Ana, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I was born and raised in Colombia. I have always loved music and dreamt of coming to LA to work with all the people I looked up to and artists I loved. When I graduated high school, I moved to the US to study Music Production at Full Sail University; during my time in Florida, I started volunteering at a music venue, where I met lots of incredible musicians and always did my best to learn as much as I could from all types of music and level up.
I graduated as Valedictorian of my class and was fortunate to come across a potential job opportunity in LA. Nevertheless, the pandemic hit and although I did not know anybody in LA or had a job opportunity anymore, I moved to LA and started reaching out to every producer/engineer/publisher I could. After a couple of months, I got the chance to assist an amazing producer and engineer and slowly started connecting with more and more people in the industry and working in projects for artists like Meek Mill, DAVE, Sofia Carson, and movies different movies and TV shows.
Later on, I landed a job at a publishing company where I have been engineering, producing, and writing. I am very excited about all the projects coming out soon and dream of making songs that resonate with millions of people.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Leaving all my family behind and coming to the US on my own has been tough. Coming from another country has lots of challenges, from finding ways to get a visa to being able to afford to live here, buy a car or even build credit to rent a place to live.
Moving to LA without really knowing anybody was a challenge too, it took me a couple months to find an opportunity in the industry during the beginning of the pandemic but really all the sacrifices and difficult moments have built my character and helped me grow so much.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I went to school for Music Production, but my day to day job involves audio engineering, songwriting and production, so those are skills I’m very confident in and get more and more experience on everyday.
I have been blessed to work with up-and-coming artists like Ben Carrillo and also be a part of projects for artists like DAVE, Meek Mill, YSN Flow, Sofia Carson, etc. Which I feel really proud of. In addition to that, I am very happy about building a network of friends in the music industry and get to create music with people I look up to.
I am a very driven and determined person who loves music deeply. I always give my 200% and pay attention to every detail on a record to make sure whatever I am creating is as magical and as good as it can be. I dream big and try to learn about different cultures, different genres and artists every day to create innovative music that can resonate with people around the world.
I’d say what makes me myself is always wanting to be the best in the world; whether it is doing the simplest task or the most important want. I always give my all.
Have you learned any interesting or important lessons due to the Covid-19 Crisis?
I learned that there is a perfect timing for everything and that sometimes difficult times are really an opportunity in disguise. The pandemic helped me build lots of mental strength and pushed me to push myself harder than ever.
At the same time, I had lots of introspection and time to think how important it is to live in gratitude and value the people we love since everything in life can change really fast. I’d say it was a great time to understand how important it is to live every single day to the fullest.
