Rising Stars: Meet Amy Apparis

Today we’d like to introduce you to Amy Apparis.

Hi Amy, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I am a twenty-year-old up and coming music artist. I grew up in a musical family where my grandmother was a well-known professional singer and my uncles were in a very successful 50’s band. I used to sing all the time in front of my family and with their love and support, it was just a matter of time before I would follow in their footsteps. Throughout my educational career, I was in musicals, had lead performances and solos. In high school, I was in the Vocal Ensemble where I was the president of my junior and senior year. After high school, following my heart and passion, I went to a performing arts college in Hollywood where I was able to enhance my vocal, writing, theory, and producing skills. I recently released my first single, “In My Dreams” where I wrote and did the arrangement, as well as played on the track. I also recently released a remix of “In My Dreams”, and I am really proud of how well my music is doing. My songs are available on all major music platforms, including Itunes, Spotify, Pandora, YouTube, Soundcloud and etc… With being able to track the analytics for my music, I have been played in 20 countries and I will strive to continue to make music that resonates with people.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No, it has not been a smooth road. It’s been hard with losing family, relationships failing, being in the middle of the pandemic, and just overall having a rough time. Even though these struggles discouraged me from creating, I kept at it. There were some highs and lows. Some days I didn’t feel like creating because it was so hard but I found the motivation. I keep a songbook with me at all times and I write how I feel. With being in a pandemic, it’s extremely hard to create something new that’s catchy because, in the beginning, my mindset was somewhere else. There are even some times when I get writer’s block. It would be so upsetting because I feel stuck. Usually, when that happens I just take a day or two to myself and come back to it the next day or so. Overall, I look at the challenges I face and channel them into my music.

Can you give our readers some background on your music?
I am a singer/songwriter, pianist, and producer. I am known for having catchy lyrics and funky bass lines. I am most proud of my first single “In My Dreams” because it was my first accomplishment as an artist! I wrote the track myself, played on it, and even co-produced it. What sets me apart from others is my tone. I have a tone in which I don’t sound like another artist, it’s my sound. With releasing “In My Dreams,” my fan base has increased as people have listened to it in multiple countries. With that being said, it was most listened to on repeat! Since then, I have been working on more music but I just recently finished a collaboration with a friend of mine. Collaborating with another artist is truly an experience and I’d like to say yet another accomplishment. I’m looking forward to hitting new milestones in my career.

Who else deserves credit in your story?
My family and friends deserve lots of credit! To be specific, my mom, Julie has always been my number one fan and supporter. Ever since I was young and got into music, my family has had my back. My mom has been involved so heavily with my music. I write about her, she goes with me to anything music-related and she even helps me with melodies or production! With having very honest family and friends, they always give me constructive criticism whether it be good or bad. I appreciate it because it makes me a better artist. Besides having super supportive friends and family, a few of my teachers have been helpful in guiding me in the right direction. I am grateful that I am able to say that I have a huge support system that will always be there for me.
