Rising Stars: Meet Allie Doody

Today we’d like to introduce you to Allie Doody.

Hi Allie, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
As a small fry, I was shy. So when my friends asked me to audition for the school play, I felt uneasy. They did not end up getting cast, but I did. Ever since then, acting has been a huge part of my life. I continued to perform throughout high school and into college. It took me a while to figure out what I wanted to do since I had many interests. The joy of performing always stayed with me and the rest is history.

I earned a degree in Theater Arts from San Francisco State University. While attending, I was chosen as one of 14 in the United States to participate in the Performing Arts Abroad program through London’s Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts. There I really cemented my foundational training in theater and character study. It was fascinating to see overseas how they approach acting. I studied various eras of English theater from Medieval pageant wagons to Baroque to Shakespeare and Contemporary. It was an unforgettable experience that I take with me even today.

Now, I work in multiple mediums from acting, writing, voice-over, singing to improv and modeling. However, I’ll never forget how my grade school drama teacher took a chance on this girl.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Everyone has their struggles. I have had a lot of people come up to me saying how I’m living the dream and how they wish they could quit their jobs and become actors. What most fail to realize is that acting, auditioning, just existing, requires a lot of hard work. They do not see the hundreds of auditions it takes to get one callback or the fear the sinks in when you have bills to pay and don’t know if you will book a gig to cover your rent. This life is not for everyone, I have seen many give up. I know I’ll keep pushing forward, something will happen. I am so grateful for any opportunity that comes my way. I would never change my past decisions, I love what I do and I’ll continue to do it until I’m 90!

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Most recently, you all can see me in the Sci-Fi short film Warning Label, directed by Nate Lyles. I play Kiqu, a badass android killing survivor.

When I’m not playing boss ladies on film and television, I run a small production company, it’s called Allie Finale Studios. I produce content in many forms, from short films to music videos, to radio dramas and much more! My current ongoing series are; Sasha Says (the sassy spy who dispenses wisdom to the masses), The Underrated Actors Series and The Soul Catcher Mystery Hour (an audio drama about a supernatural radio). Sasha was a pandemic project of mine invented to brighten everyone’s day. Each episode is a weekly short of Sasha giving advice to her adoring audience. The Underrated Actors series sheds light on actors who are in a ton of projects but whose names are never remembered. Finally, The Soul Catcher Mystery Hour is a radio drama that details the adventures of a supernatural radio and the people that come across it over the span of different time periods. If any one of these sound interesting to you, feel free to check them out on Youtube at Allie Finale Studios.

My unbridled passion for multiple forms of media and my ability to follow through on all of my projects is what sets me apart. I love passionately talking about video games, anime and books. When I make a promise to do something, that is a guarantee I’ll work til completion. As a performer, my versatility spans many aspects of entertainment from film to theater to voice-over/ singing to live improv and print. My athletic abilities allow me to create dynamic performances. Acting is such a passion for me that I always give 11o percent, no matter what kind of production it is.

Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
I feel optimistic for the future. I know that no matter what happens, I will always find a way to create!

Feel free to check out both my acting (Allie Doody) and my production company (Allie Finale Studios) websites, my door is always open for collaborations so drop me a line.
