Rising Stars: Meet Ali Starrlight

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ali Starrlight.

Ali Starrlight

Hi Ali, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I am a native Los Angeles Valley girl! My dad was a drummer and songwriter, and my sibling is a composer and is in a band in Ithaca, New York. My mom works with insured musicians in hand therapy, so it’s definitely in the blood. Music is my love and will always be a wholesome expression. I worked hard to hone my skills, learning how to play out live and write and record in the studio. I even established a community of fellow artists who would meet every week to catch up about what we were working on. When 2020 came around, I decided to focus on really putting out my originals, and that led me to release my debut project in 2023, which has been a blast to share!!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road to getting the album out is eventually going to be a great book. I think I have faced more challenges that I wouldn’t wish on another aspiring artist. I guess what I’m willing to share is that I’m happy for facing what I did in order to be as strong as I am today. Look forward to the book HAHA.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a singer and songwriter. I produce my own records and have a hand in every stage, from conception to finished master. I’m most proud of my craft. I have put in a lot of work developing and growing into the artist I am today. I am the product of the work, and the songs that come through me are an honor, but I ultimately know that they aren’t to be objectified, and neither is my artistry. I truly believe the artist is the value in our society, not the hit that comes from a stellar session. Being as real and as natural in that process is what will impact the listener for the better. I am proud of the album. It’s called “Starrlight.” it’s my debut from great challenge and self-discovery and will always be my first child.

Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
For me, being an artist, creating true art is the fulfillment I can’t buy or manipulate; it’s the most real part of my being, but it’s not all of my being. So I just want to remind any fellow artist reading this to nurture all beautiful aspects of their life!
