Today we’d like to introduce you to Alexa Rae Lopez.
Hi Alexa Rae, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My name is Alexa, I’m 31 years old, and I’m currently based in Orange County. I grew up in a small town outside of Los Angeles called Walnut, where I was raised by my incredible single mother alongside my two older sisters. My father left when I was just three, so I learned early on what resilience and independence truly meant. My mom always reminded me never to rely on anyone but myself—and that mindset really stuck with me and shaped how I approach both life and my career.
Professionally, I’m a seasoned social media specialist with experience across a wide range of industries—everything from beauty and restaurants to family-friendly entertainment, hospitality, and even B2B. I’ve worn many hats and have learned how to adapt my voice, strategy, and content depending on the brand and audience. That versatility has been one of my biggest strengths.
In addition to strategy and execution, I’m incredibly passionate about content creation. I love storytelling through visuals and words, and I even create my own content on my personal channels. I’m also a big supporter of small businesses and truly believe in the power of social media to help them thrive—it’s so rewarding to use my skills to make a real impact.
Overall, my journey has been shaped by grit, creativity, and a genuine love for what I do, and I’m excited to keep growing and making a difference through the work I do in this space.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road, and I honestly wouldn’t want it to be. The bumps and missteps—both professionally and personally—have helped shape who I am today. I’ve made choices I later questioned, and I’ve been in roles where I wasn’t recognized or valued for what I brought to the table. Early in my career, I even experienced racial discrimination in the workplace. At the time, I stayed in that environment because I didn’t believe I could do better, and that mindset held me back.
On a personal level, one of my biggest struggles has been my own self-worth and confidence. Imposter syndrome is something I’ve battled for most of my career, and it’s still a work in progress. I constantly have to remind myself that I do know what I’m doing, that I’ve earned my seat at the table, and that I bring a lot of value—regardless of the room I walk into.
But rather than let those struggles define me, I use them as fuel. Every challenge has pushed me to grow, reflect, and show up as a stronger, more resilient version of myself. I’m proud of the journey, even the messy parts, because they’ve made me more intentional about the work I do and the way I show up for myself and others.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m a creative social media strategist with nearly a decade of experience in brand growth and influencer marketing. Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to work with a wide range of businesses—from scrappy small startups to established mid-size and large brands. I specialize in building authentic brand presence, driving engagement, and crafting social-first strategies that actually convert.
I was the Social Media Manager for Sky Zone and its affiliated brands for over three years, where I led social strategy across all of their national social media channels. I was also heavily involved in day to day management and strategy development for both the owned and operated and franchise park network(s). Currently, I serve as the Social Media Manager at Huckleberry, which was recently awarded an App Store Editors’ Choice Award. This recognition from Apple acknowledges Huckleberry’s role as a trusted parenting app that helps families understand their baby’s sleep patterns and routines. It’s been incredibly rewarding to help elevate a brand that’s making such a meaningful impact for parents.
In addition to social media management, I’ve also spearheaded successful influencer marketing campaigns—both domestically and internationally. From sourcing the right creators to managing full-scale activations, I know how to build strategic partnerships that drive results and brand loyalty.
What I’m most proud of, though, is my resilience, my relentless work ethic, and my identity. As a Filipina American woman in marketing, I often found myself in rooms where no one looked like me. Representation has always mattered deeply to me, and I carry that with pride. I show up not just for myself, but for every person who hasn’t seen someone like them in these roles. That’s what truly sets me apart—my lived experience, my perspective, and my passion for showing others what’s possible.
So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
What matters most to me is representation and authenticity.
Representation, because growing up—and even now—I’ve rarely seen people in executive roles, in media, or in leadership positions who look like me. As a Filipina American woman, I know I’m often a departure from what people expect in corporate America. I’m heavily tattooed, often mistaken for being younger than I am, and don’t necessarily “fit the mold” of what a professional is supposed to look like. People make assumptions about me all the time—but I’ve learned to let my work speak for itself. And I hope that by simply showing up and excelling in my career, I can help expand the narrative of what leadership can and should look like.
Authenticity also matters deeply to me. I think we live in a world where people feel so much pressure to be a version of themselves they think others will accept. I’ve done that—I’ve watered myself down in both personal and professional settings, and all it did was disconnect me from the opportunities and relationships that could’ve truly elevated me. Now, I lead with honesty and vulnerability, and I surround myself with people who value the same. I believe authenticity builds trust, and trust is the foundation of everything—whether that’s in a team, a brand, or a personal connection.
At the end of the day, I want to be someone who shows up fully as herself and opens the door for others to do the same.
