Rising Stars: Meet Alex Hyde-White of Studio City

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alex Hyde-White.

Hi Alex, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Punch Audio was founded in 2012 as a collaboration of Narrators and Engineers to meet the growing demand for independent authors to produce high-quality audiobooks of their work, thereby expanding their brand, reach, and audience. Over 650 books later, Punch Audio has clients and affiliated studios the world over. No matter where you are, we can help you create your Audiobook.
Many authors want to read themselves, which is one of our specialities. If you prefer a seasoned Narrator, well we can do that, happily. We are Hollywood-based and have a large roster of excellent talent.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The crazy expansion of Audiobooks in 2012-2015 built expecations. Even the pandemic year of 20-21 was busy, as many authors finally got around to writing their stories. Since then, however, the market has contracted and many of the large publishers have downsized. Fortunately, being a lean collaborative, Punch Audio has weathered the contraction and has a regional presence all over the U.S. We can accomodate you in New York City, Florida, Atlanta, San Francisco, even Boise, Idaho. You get the picture. We can manage almost any production, no matter where you are.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am Alex Hyde-White, a long-time actor in movies and TV, who founded Punch Audio in 2012 to create high-quality audiobooks for independent authors worldwide. I have played big parts in small movies, and smaller parts in big films, Pretty Woman, Indy and the Last Crusade, Catch Me If You Can, and more recently, NOPE and Fantastic Four. My claim to fame in the comic superhero world is that I am the OG Reed Richards in Roger Corman’s 1994 ill-fated version of
“The Fantastic Four, ” which was never officially released but has become a forgotten classic in the hearts of many fans.

My Audiobook outfit is Punch Audio and we continue to help independent authors grow their audience through Audiobooks, many of which we produce right here in Los Angeles, with studios in NoHo, Studio City, and Santa Monica.
