We’re looking forward to introducing you to Nicole Rangel. Check out our conversation below.
Nicole, it’s always a pleasure to learn from you and your journey. Let’s start with a bit of a warmup: What’s the most surprising thing you’ve learned about your customers?
One of the most surprising things about my customers is just how much trust they give me throughout the design process. It genuinely means so much to see how strongly they believe in my work and vision. Many clients give me the creative freedom to transform their spaces, and that level of faith is something I’ll never take for granted. It’s incredibly rewarding when someone is open-minded and excited to explore new ideas together. Their willingness to let me push boundaries and think creatively inspires me every day. I love working with people who value design and understand the beauty of collaboration. I’m so grateful for the trust my clients place in me and t’s truly the foundation of what makes this work so fulfilling.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Nicole Rangel, and I am the owner and designer behind the virtual interior design studio, Nicole Rangel Interiors. I specialize in transforming spaces that feel personal, functional, and beautifully curated. What makes my company unique is that I offer remote design services, allowing clients to work with me conveniently from their homes. This flexibility makes the process seamless for busy individuals and families. Another distinguishing aspect is that I am currently the sole owner and lead designer, so every client works with me directly from start to finish. I collaborate with trusted contractors and vendors when needed, but I remain hands-on throughout the entire project. My approach is centered around intentional design choices and creating spaces that truly reflect the people who live in them. I love bringing my clients’ visions to life while surprising them with fresh creative ideas. I’m grateful for the trust my clients place in me and excited to continue growing and taking on new and meaningful projects.
Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. Who taught you the most about work?
The people who taught me the most about work are my parents. They are both incredibly hard workers who built careers from the ground up and proved their value in completely different fields. They started working at a young age and came from very humble beginnings, which taught me the importance of resilience and determination. Watching them grow through dedication and discipline showed me what is possible when you commit fully to your goals. They taught me that when you value yourself and your skills, you can create your own opportunities. Because of them, I learned that I am capable of taking care of myself and building a successful future through hard work.
What’s something you changed your mind about after failing hard?
One thing I changed my mind about after failing hard is the belief that everything has to work out perfectly. I realized that it’s statistically impossible for every project, client, or opportunity to succeed and that’s okay. Some clients might not love my designs or may not enjoy working with me personally, and that used to feel like failure. Now I understand that there are so many other clients in the world who will appreciate my work and see my value. I also learned that mistakes on the job don’t define my talent or potential. I’m human, and every challenge is simply a chance to grow and improve for next time. It’s no longer failure to me, but a redirection toward something better.
I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. Is the public version of you the real you?
Yes, the public version of me is the real me. I try to show my character as authentically as possible. Of course, I have bad days, and I don’t always share every difficult moment, but that doesn’t make me any less real. I love showing my silly side on social media and letting people see that I’m more than just an interior designer or business owner. I enjoy making fashion videos, going out with friends, and sharing the fun parts of my life. I want people to see that I’m well-rounded and human just like everyone else. That balance is what makes me who I am, both online and in person.
Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I hope that when I’m gone, people remember more than just my hard work and dedication to my business. I want them to remember who I truly was as a person. I hope they say that I was kind, thoughtful, and genuine. I want my designs, my artwork, and even my fashion to be a reflection of my story and creativity. I hope that people understand that I always led with empathy and care. I want them to know that I valued every person I met and tried to make a positive impact. Most of all, I hope that my presence left people feeling seen, appreciated, and understood. I want the story they tell about me to be one of love, creativity, and compassion.
