We’re looking forward to introducing you to Molly McNamee. Check out our conversation below.
Hi Molly, thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to share your story, experiences and insights with our readers. Let’s jump right in with an interesting one: What do you think is misunderstood about your business?
One big misunderstanding about my work is thinking it’s “just fitness.” So people assume they can just go to the gym for that. But a gym just gives you a place to move. And a class gives you a workout. A coach helps you actually make progress – by working with your body, not against it. I used to do traditional personal training, but now I coach my clients through the deeper work. As a fitness and hormone coach, I help with the stress, the hormone imbalances, and the lifestyle patterns that keep them stuck. I still help with the exercise piece, but I also help their body respond to it. That’s the part most people don’t realize they need until nothing else is working.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi! I’m Molly McNamee. I am the founder of MFit Workouts, which is a brand I created back in 2013 that has evolved a lot over the past decade. What started as an online gym has turned into something so much deeper. In 2017, I was working out daily, eating healthy, doing everything “right”… but I felt awful. I was gaining weight, sleeping terribly, and constantly anxious. That’s when I started digging into chronic stress and hormones – and everything changed. Now I help other women understand how their bodies actually work, so they can stop fighting themselves and finally feel strong, calm, and in control again.
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
I work in a very superficial industry. Health and fitness are often treated as tools for shrinking your body or chasing a certain look. But before all of that – before I ever cared about “toned arms” or the number on the scale – I just loved to move. I loved dancing in the living room, doing gymnastics in my backyard, playing basketball with my brothers, sailing with my dad, cooking with my mom. Movement was fun. It made me feel free and strong and fully alive.
Somewhere along the way, that joy got buried under pressure, perfectionism, and body image issues. But the beautiful thing is… I’ve found my way back to it. And now, I help others do the same. It’s not about becoming someone else. It’s about coming home to yourself.
When did you stop hiding your pain and start using it as power?
For a long time, I looked like the picture of health online. Fit, smiling, and full of energy. But behind the scenes, I was crash-dieting before photoshoots, forcing workouts my body didn’t want, and constantly confused by how awful I felt despite doing everything “right.” I was gaining weight, exhausted, and no one had real answers. The turning point came when I realized I couldn’t out-discipline my hormones. My body wasn’t broken… it was protecting me. Once I stopped hiding my struggles and started sharing what actually helped, I found my purpose. That pain became the foundation of my work – helping others feel like themselves again, without burning out to get there.
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What’s a belief you used to hold tightly but now think was naive or wrong?
I used to believe in the phrase “no pain, no gain.” I grew up as a gymnast – rips on your hands, sore muscles, bruises – it all meant you were working toward something. I carried that into adulthood, assuming that discomfort meant progress. But now, that phrase makes me cringe. Pain isn’t a prerequisite for results. Yes, workouts should challenge you, but they shouldn’t break you. The goal isn’t to push harder… it’s to train smarter, in a way your body can actually recover from and grow with.
Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. If you retired tomorrow, what would your customers miss most?
I’d love to say they’d miss my expert guidance and life-changing programming. But in reality… they’d probably miss my ridiculous storytelling during workouts, the playlists that somehow always hit, and the way I lovingly nag them to take care of themselves. I think they’d miss having someone who actually sees them – who shows up like a coach, a cheerleader, and a friend all rolled into one.
