Today we’d like to introduce you to Zoe Sky Jordan.
Hi Zoe, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I was born in Toronto and started making music as a teenager.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The journey hasn’t been smooth, but I love how random and varied my career in music has been.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m an alternative singer-songwriter. I write songs for my artist project under my own name as well as for other artists. I’m known for abstract lyrics, angular melodies, and writing about female relationships.
How do you think about luck?
I like to think everyone gets the same amount of luck in life, maybe just as different times. A lot of the things I thought were going to work out didn’t, and many of the opportunities that have ended up defining my journey came out of nowhere. All that to say, I think luck and magic are present and important forces for artists. I definitely subscribe to the school of thought that says just start moving in the general direction of where you’re hoping to go, and something (maybe not what you were expecting, but something) will happen, and it will probably be the right thing.
