Today we’d like to introduce you to ZinaLetrece Stepter.
ZinaLetrece, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Raised in South LA with my mother and her side of the family. Through a series of unfortunate events, I ended up having to move to Chicago, with my dad, for high school. When I came back to LA, I was pregnant. By the time I was 26 years old, I had been married, divorced, and now had five kids.
Being young and uninformed about a lot of life, I ended up on drugs. I got sober in September of 1988 and am now approaching 30 years of sobriety. After failing out of the 11th grade twice, I got my GED, went on to get my AA in Business, BA in Communications, and am now scheduled to get my Master’s Degree in December of this year. I have published my autobiography and am scheduled to do an official launch of my book on Oct. 20th of this year.
The title of my book is: “Life in the Fast Lane; A journey back to myself”, by ZinaLetrece. I am a certified Minister and Motivational Speaker and in my full-time job, I work with homeless veterans, with co-occurring disorders. My five kids are now adults, ranging in age from 32 years old to 39 years old and have given me five beautiful grandchildren. I am living a truly blessed life…I have been given the opportunity to live two lifestyles in one lifetime.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Obstacles being many, I’ll just give you the short list…. drugs, alcohol, rape, low self-esteem, low self-worth, hopelessness, depression, diagnosed bipolar, homelessness, discouragement, disappointment… and the list can certainly continue.
Zin R.O.B. – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I work full time with homeless, co-occurring veterans in a housing first transitional agency, using the Harm Reduction Model. My personal business involves mentoring, motivational speaking, and book signings. I specialize in offering hope, health, and wellness to people suffering from brokenness.
I am most proud of the impact others have shared I have on their life and the ability to motivate and encourage people to positively change the trajectory of their own lives.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
The lives that have been changed.
