Today we’d like to introduce you to Zimzon Zion Lelo.
Zimzon Zion, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
My story starts as a six years old reject that was told he wasn’t good enough to play football (Soccer). From that moment onwards, I made a promise to myself to never allow myself to feel like that again.
I eventually made another team and my journey as a football player began, throughout this whole time I thought I was playing football but in actuality I was learning what life is really about. Foot taught me a lot, discipline, teamwork, taking instructions, goal setting, preparation and most importantly to have fun. As we get older, I feel the fun part gets forgotten as we deal with the pressure of adulthood.
I’ve always been one to explore and seek beyond the comforts of my surroundings, so at the age of 19, I decided it was time for me to relocate spread my wings and fly away. I landed in England in a small town called MILTON KEYNES I was scared yet excited to go on this journey.
My plan was to become a professional football player so the first thing I did was to look up the local team in the area. They happened to have a trial so I made my way down to the training facility, nervous as hell but I knew I had the ability so a sense of calm kept me focus at the task ahead.
I made the team and quickly made friends the coach even helped me get a job while playing as the wages didn’t cover my expenses at the time, I was playing semi-pro as they call it in England.
18 months later I moved to London to continue my pursuit of going pro, during this time I had a lot of growth happening not only as a football player but as a young man. London will forever have a very special place in my heart as that’s the city that shaped me into the man I am today, London is tough yet beautiful, mean yet kind. During my period in London I got to meet some of my nearest and dearest friends, some I consider family till this day.
Unfortunately due to a knee injury, I had to end my football career and my dreams of becoming a pro suddenly came to an end.
In the midst of all of this, I had to rethink and rearrange my whole plan as far as life goes. Due to my rehabilitation, I learned a lot about my body but more so the mental aspect of it. All this made me develop my business ZimZone.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
The road has definitely not been smooth but I am grateful for the journey as it made me who I am. Besides my injuries, I’ve endured rejection and failed multiple times. But I don’t lose I learn, I think it’s important to have the right mindset in everything you embark on in life.
Every time I failed or was told I wasn’t good enough, I would take something with me that would better prepare me for what’s to come.
Please tell us about ZimZone.
My business ZimZone is based upon health and fitness but most importantly ZimZone is about making you the best version of yourself, mentally, spiritually and physically.
ZimZone covers all aspects of health and fitness, currently I’ve developed a program called Train Like a Gladiator. Its a body weight-based workout program that not only focuses on getting your body but your mind as well as the program comes with gems that can be implemented in your everyday life.
I’m probably most known for being a Gladiator called (DELTA) from the TV show the Gladiators known as the American Gladiators in the U.S.
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
I would go for it harder and not let other people’s opinions have an effect on certain decisions. But when we know better, we do better.
