Today we’d like to introduce you to Zarian Hadley.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Zarian. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I started pursuing music production by producing/recording in 1992 in Cincinnati. 1997 I got my first break of my music being professionally mixed and recorded with NBA Veteran Tyrone Hill of All-Net Records in the Nati.
2003 I decided to move to California to pursue the movie industry after attending a two year school and not only learning sound engineering but also camera and post-production.
In 2005 up until 2015, I journeyed through the ranks of being a production assistant, camera tech, camera assistant, camera operator active in the reality world of TV. Shows I was able to work intricately on were Hell’s Kitchen, Biggest Loser, Contender, The Bachelor Pad, several music videos, independent feature films and four years of Directing Tedx Crenshaw, Kevin Hart shows and several others that I can name.
2020 I find myself creating my own independent films, TV shows, DP’ing and producing other company projects, having my own crew and gear and alliances to create small to medium-sized productions.
My goal is to have my content of major platforms, independent, Black-owned Platforms worldwide, which I’m in negotiations now.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
As we all know, life has its challenges, like Donald Trump, Police Killings, Coronavirus, etc. There have been a lot of challenges up until this point. I’ve been fired for following what I believe in and being a strong Black man having my beliefs and principles comes with sacrifice in order to have peace of mind. You have to go through these obstacles to really know how to navigate in your world. You can’t become a general if you haven’t weathered the storms. The storms and the falls gain you experience. We never stop learning, because as we progress and advance through life, those are all new areas that we need to overstand, so learning is essential. Life is about mastering each level and being able to shed light on how you made it past that level and then sharing it with others. Sharing can be knowledge, money, resources, but it’s you giving valuable assets to make the people you love and cherish’s life easier, so they can benefit from your learning and go further than you since you’ve already paid the price.
King Z Films – what should we know? What do you do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
My company is a collective of my resources, my experience, my wherewithal to make shit happen. I am a creative. I am a Director of Photography, I am a Producer. I am a writer and I am a Director, I am a Master of Ceremony, I am a Piano Player, I am a Musical Vibist.
I’m producing to be able to tell peoples stories in an excellent modern way. That is my purpose.
I’m most proud of the fact that I have a solid team of technical supporters, I have my own gear and crew and am able to take on any visual task given, as it relates to TV and Film.
What sets me apart from other companies is that as advanced as we are, we are in the trenches of our community, bringing our stories to the forefront with excellence.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
The proudest moment has been for me to bring my brother into the business and to see him flourish.
