Today we’d like to introduce you to Zang Miah.
Zang, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I am originally from the UK and that is where I was first introduced to the hair loss industry. I experienced hair loss myself and I was introduced to a technique called Micro Hair Technique (MHT). This was proven to work and was effective to combat hair loss. However, I saw that there are potential to improve the technique and make it more effective, which is now called Scalp Micropigmentation (SMP). As the pioneer of the modern SMP technique, I had high profile clients from world class soccer players, prolific actors, NFL players and musicians from all over to come to me to do their treatment.
After a couple years of developing the UK market, I was responsible to be sent to the United States at the VP of operations and introduce the concept here about 5 years ago. While I was here, I personally recruited and trained clients of mine to be practitioners themselves. Over the course of the 5 years as VP of North America, I opened 13 clinics nationwide.
After serving over 5000 clients throughout my career, I built a brand for myself through my name. The name Zang was all over the web in related to Scalp Micropigmentation and my friends and family urged me to go independent from my previous employer and go create Zang SMP.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Smooth roads happen after the bumps. Big struggle for me was to decide to live here in the states. My family is originally from the UK and I took my son and wife away from all of that. Coming to the states I had no one here. I basically had to start with a new slate and I got my family involved. However, throughout the course of the years I met amazing people here. In fact, all my closest friends I have here are clients of mine originally.
Please tell us about Zang SMP.
At Zang SMP we are a premier provider for Scalp Micropigmentation services. Scalp Micropigmentation is a non-surgical, non-evasive, permanent cosmetic procedure where we deposit (100% organic and plant based) pigments into the scalp to provide the illusion you have a head of hair. As the pioneer of the technique I am confident in providing this service and true believer this is the number one combatant against hair loss.
What I’m proud about isn’t the 5000+ clients I’ve served worldwide and having no clients come and regret doing the treatment, it is that the clients come to me and say how comfortable I make them feel going on with the treatment and how it has changed their lives. Knowing that I have a huge positive impact on their lives is what keeps me going. Sometimes at the end of treatments I’ll get a hug from a client just saying thank you. It’s the little things, and I feel great joy in knowing that I can do that to someone.
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
Favorite memory from childhood is that given the circumstances of my family and having the opportunity to grow up in the United Kingdom (we’re originally from Bangladesh) that we overcame many challenges together. My older siblings provided a lot for us and we all struggled together but we prevailed together. Not having a mother for most my childhood, my older sister would do all the things a mother would. Wake me up for school, get me breakfast, drop me off, wash my clothes etc.
That is something I will never take for granted, and always will have a place in my heart.
