Today we’d like to introduce you to Zachary King.
Zachary, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I moved to Los Angeles in January 2023 and started taking classes at the Stella Adler Academy of Acting and Theater, where I still study (off and on). That was my first step when I got here, the next step was trying to land jobs. Since we spoke last I have been lucky enough to have gotten work in some really cool projects in both TV and Film. I have grown very found of LA the more I have been out here, and it’s finally starting to feel like I really live here instead of just here on a visit.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Acting is very up and down. Some months are really hot and some months are really cold, and some months are a bit in between so you definitely have to be appreciative of every opportunity that comes your way and realize how lucky you are to be doing this. I have been trying to lead with a crazy amount of gratitude every time I get on a set or on stage because it really is so cool to be doing this.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am an actor based in Los Angeles. I can’t pretend to have specialized in anything specific because I don’t think that would paint my experience thus far in the right color, but through both productions done at Stella Adler, and job opportunities I have been lucky enough to be a part of, I think I have definitely felt some major wins both on stage and on camera. The thing I am most proud of I think would be that I got to experience a really cool moment together with one of my best friends in the world out here in LA in April. My friend who I grew up with, Ryan Ficano, is a musician based in Philly and he was out here touring with Eliza McLamb the same exact week the very first movie I was in debuted in theaters (Luderdale) so I got to see him absolutely kill on stage at the Troubadour, and we also checked out the movie together and it was just a solid moment I think for both of us. My role in the movie was nothing to brag about, I’m in it for maybe 13 seconds but it was very cool to be in a movie theater in Los Angeles and see something I’m actually in the credits for, and it was even cooler to share that moment with Ryan who was having a rock star moment of his own- AND it was both of our 29th birthday (7th and 17th). So we kind of just had this moment where we were like, man, if we were to have told the teenage versions of ourselves that we would be in Los Angeles for our 29th birthday to see one of us on tour with a dynamite and popular musician, and the other who is in a movie thats debuting in theaters- we would think that would be so rad man. I’m glad I got to experience that moment.
What do you like and dislike about the city?
The thing I like most about LA is that if you wanted to, you could find something to do literally every single night of the week. There is a lot going on and its very fun to be in such a lively and vibrant city. The thing I like the least, no question, is the traffic. I know that’s clichè but it really is that bad.
