Today we’d like to introduce you to Zac DelVecchio.
Zac, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
As so many college students know, finding a part time job they like while being a full-time student is beyond tough. Never mind just the studying, but as students living their lives, friends and going out is just as much a priority as anything else. That is how I felt a few years ago and realized there had to be a better solution. I quickly began to create an idea of a platform for connecting students to part time work on their own time. It wasn’t easy, but after a year of time researching and studying College Labor came to be. Currently servicing all of LA and San Francisco, College Labor will be in all 50 states and major cities within the next few years.
Has it been a smooth road?
The toughest struggles are understanding where our customers come from and where students come from. Luckily for myself, I was a student only a few months ago so I was able to place myself into both pairs of shoes. While the design process is something that is never complete, my team and I have been able to overcome so many problems from how to deal with customers who have their workers stuck on the 101 to getting 30 students to help work at a UC game. It is a lot of strategy involved, but absolutely worth it.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with College Labor – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
College Labor is a site dedicated to students connecting to part time work as simply as possible. Students log in to their personalized dashboard and can either bid or accept jobs posted by customers. Once the job is complete, the students get paid directly on the spot. What sets us apart is the ability to help grow our community and give students extra income in such tough economic times as well as help the community hire its own.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I have been living in Hollywood the past few years and after being born and raised on Long Island I can say there truly no place like LA. My favorite part is the culture, the vibe and of course the food. I am a musician before anything else (I attended the Musicians Institute), and I love being able to play out and in the studio with such great artists. My least favorite part is by far the traffic, but then again that is the entire cities complaint!
