Hi Yuxuan, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
During a certain period, I engaged in an intense search for both part-time and full-time job opportunities, as well as internships, essentially anything that could grant me practical involvement within the industry. While I did accumulate experience by working with multiple companies, I gradually recognized that this path wasn’t aligned with my true aspirations. Within these organizations, my exposure was limited to fragments of information and tasks assigned by the head designer.

However, my genuine desire revolves around pursuing a career that enables me to express my unique perspective. This led me to establish my own brand. As my professional journey unfolded, I started blending my passion for fashion with installation art. This combination enabled me to transcend the confines of conventional design, resulting in immersive experiences that blurred the boundaries between fashion and art. Through my installations, I found a means to convey narratives, evoke emotions, and question societal conventions via a multi-sensory approach.

Presently, my role as both a fashion designer and installation artist continues to undergo transformation, with each new collection and installation pushing the limits of creativity and innovation.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The journey has been far from smooth, marked by hurdles that have shaped my path. Early on in my career, a significant hurdle I confronted was the quest for recognition and the establishment of my distinct artistic voice. The fashion realm is fiercely competitive, making it a formidable challenge for emerging designers like me to carve a niche. Navigating the process of building a compelling portfolio, securing opportunities to showcase my creations, and defining a unique style that would distinguish me from the crowd presented daily struggles.

Moreover, instances arose where I found myself questioning my work and grappling with creative stagnation. Triumphing over these periods of uncertainty and rediscovering my wellspring of inspiration became a continuous battle. Yet, in retrospect, these adversities have not only bestowed valuable lessons but also served as catalysts for my growth. They compelled me to perpetually metamorphose as both an artist and an entrepreneur. Conquering these obstacles has instilled in me qualities of resilience, adaptability, and an unwavering commitment to remaining faithful to my artistic vision.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
To me, the essence of fashion lies in its ability to unleash one’s identity and encompass their true purpose, thereby reflecting their attitude toward life. The fluidity of self-expression finds its home in the vast array of garments available. Consequently, I have crafted my own brand as a tool to cater to individuals seeking to articulate their unique selves through clothing while sharing a mutual vision and aesthetic with me.

Amidst the myriad of transient trends flooding the market, it’s easy to lose sight of one’s core essence. Nonetheless, I am proud to have successfully developed my own fashion ecosystem. My brand narrates a tale set in a postmodern society, where the connection to our physical selves becomes increasingly estranged, and we seek reflections of our being through digital portals, residing in a fragmented existence within a digital landscape. We have all become digital nomads, wandering in this dystopian space.

What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
In my role as a fashion designer and installation artist, I hold the conviction that storytelling stands as the paramount attribute bolstering my accomplishments. Within the realms of both fashion and installation art, storytelling wields formidable influence. Proficiency in storytelling empowers me to weave narratives that captivate and forge emotional bonds with individuals, leaving an indelible mark. Through the narrative prowess infused within my creations, I’ve been granted the opportunity to engage and establish connections with individuals who share similar backgrounds and viewpoints. As a result, my thoughts, emotions, and messages reverberate profoundly with these individuals, fostering a profound resonance.
