Meet Yung Astroo

Today we’d like to introduce you to Yung Astroo.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Astroo. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Well, I was born in Silver Spring MD, Grew up in Laurel MD then Moved to Glen Burnie for better education so I guess you can say I’ve been all over Maryland. I have a younger brother as well. We had a pretty great childhood, I’m grateful that my mom wasn’t so hesitant with what we watched, or even the games we played cause they’re part of what influences us to this day. I’ve always been silly & goofy since I was a kid. I’ve always had a great sense of humor & making people smile when they didn’t want to especially in elementary school. I used to call my grandma & leave silly voicemails so she could hurry up & call me back.

When I was in high school there was this video making an app out called “Vine” (R.I.P) and my friends used to tell me I should make videos since I was already funny. So me being me I’m like “alright.. let’s just see how it goes”. When I first started off I didn’t take video making serious like how some of my friends did such as King Vader, Tazz, and a couple of other friends were. The six of us eventually created a film group called “Wolf Graphic” which is a group of highly talented individuals who all share the love for filmmaking and entertainment. We are currently sitting at nine Members who are highly talented in their own way.

After high school, I went to college for 2 in half years where I first majored in Criminal Justice. But one day it all hit me. I was sitting in class just listening to what my professor was saying and I told myself “.. This sounds crazy, I don’t think I want to be apart of this system” Immediately after class I changed my major to Mass Communications, where I would be taking my film making skills to new levels so I thought.. The next year I failed out of school but I didn’t let that stop me. I rose above the typical stereotype of college dropouts and I am working harder than ever to make something of myself. Which leads me to where I am today.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
This journey of following your dreams is not always a smooth one. You’ll have good days or even months! Then you have your bad days but you know what they say “Storms don’t last forever”.

One challenge I had was figuring out my next move after I came home from college. I thought my life was over with.. but I stayed down, prayed to God in hopes of guiding me down the right path. Another challenge is not worrying about numbers when making content. It can be stressful at times cause when you want to work with different Influencers/companies some of them look at your following/view count & if you don’t have a high number of either one of those they’ll tend to not work with you. Numbers is not all it’s about. I’ve grown to realize that If your content is good & the quality Is great then the followers & views will come. Don’t be pressed for people to be in your videos either instead focus on creating genuine relationships with them. It’s more valuable than a “Yo you wanna be in a video?” right when you meet someone.

Please tell us more about your work. What should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
The company I’m working on is called Wolf Graphic Entertainment. It was originally created by me & my two friends Vader & Tazz. We started this group back when we were seniors in high school in 2015. Wolf Graphic now holds nine members who all share the same love & passion for filmmaking & creating content. We’re all talented and gifted in our own different ways! We’ve got Directors, Writers, Producers, Cinematographers, Etc. We’ve got it all and that’s what sets us apart from other groups. I’m so proud of how far we’ve come as individuals. We push each other to be the best versions of ourselves for the world to see. We inspire each other to keep going as a whole & Nothing is going to stop us from creating the empire we deserve.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Success is when you can inspire someone to go after their own dreams or you can touch them with the work you put out. If someone can tell you “Yo man, you’ve inspired me to go after my own dreams” or “I feel this on a whole other level” Thats how I know that what I’m successful at what I do. Plus it’ll only get better from here! Another thing that defines success is if you’re proud of your own work. That’s the best feeling in the world.
