Hi Xenzu, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Music has always been a big passion for me since I was a young girl, I used to do school talent shows in the city when I was young in china, but I moved to USA when I was 13. I grew up listening to soul music, Rob and hiphop and many more styles. Artists like prince, Rihana, Diana Jordan and many more artists influenced me on my early music career.
XENZU is an up-and-coming Chinese artist with a clear vision for who she wants to be and what she wants to do. Her debut EP “Burn Book & Glow Up” integrates electronic music, trap, pop, and other music styles to build a unique emotional atmosphere and musical aesthetic. Her debut garnered a nomination from Hito Music Awards and from Music Pioneer Awards. XENZU’s powerful performance at China’s Hip Hop TV Show “The Rap of China” captured the interest of many prominent figures, and she was immediately featured in China’s Vogue Magazine. Being true to herself, XENZU is letting no one get in the way of her sharing her spirituality and creative energy with the world, and she is building a new culture in the world of music, “post-pop culture”. Her two upcoming projects, “Jelly” and “Tell Me U Want Me” will provide audiences with a taste of the “post-pop culture” that is to come. Stunning visuals. Powerful themes. Unfiltered, raw performances. Those that didn’t share in the vision before will have their eyes opened when XENZU takes the stage. Her tour highlights include performing at the Trandsetters Art and Music Tour, sharing the stage with PanThePack, Human Remix at the Marquee in Singapore, and most recently, being the special guest or Korean artist JUNNY’s tour.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
I was founded by symphony and Kaydence in early 2017, Kaydence is one of my favorite singer-songwriters in the industry, she wrote for Beyonce, Ariana Grande, Brandy and many more amazing artists. we linked up with symphony in early 2017 then she told me I have big potential Then we started to create just Viking in the studio and try different styles and tones, that definitely shaped my music genre in some way, I found out that my creativity has no limitations. they always be mentors in my life. Struggles like fighting with the self-doubt in my art used to bother me so much, and that during that time was the most reflective period in my life. it ought me how to let go of the grudge I hold toward myself, not only in music but life.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am an artist who don’t limit myself, I make music that maybe people can’t describe what genre that is, yet they love it. yes, that’s my genre, post-pop. I started that genre because no other genre fits me. Post-pop is the combination of new-generation pop and urban mixed with electronic elements or whatever I want to deliver. so it’s my type of music in the chain maybe I am known for rapping but that not who I am, I can do so many things and I always explore myself and my ability to break any rules, genres or cultures. I am proud of my strength when I am dealing with tough problems so I can focus and keep going and nit blithered by noises. Go also I love my voice, lol. Everything about me set apart me from others, I am originally from CHINA but my goal is to connect and many braking b ridges and cultures, merge them together. Because I have so much love for this earth.
Who else deserves credit in your story?
Kaydence, 2nd time grammy nominated songwriter and producer symphony when I first started the music journey, they gave me so much encouragement when I though my music was nothing and when I was experiencing the lowest time of my life, they were there to guide me and helped me get back that confidence and passion for everything.
