Hi Wing, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Started in Costa Mesa, CA in November of 1988. We have 52 locations in 4 different states and 1 in Tokyo. Serving Pacific-inspired dishes to action sports enthusiasts, been featured in the Secret Millionaire on ABC, Undercover Billionaire on the Discovery Channel, multiple shows on the Food Network, Ford Commercials, Visa Commercials, etc. Been involved with the X-Games, US Open of Surfing, Dew Tour, lots of celebrity golf tournaments.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Lots of bumps with employees, location selection, weather, recessions and the worst was the Pandemic. We have lost a few stores along the way to franchisees not following the playbook and landlords getting a little greedy.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m the PR / Marketing / front person / Co-Founder of our company, so we started helping charities before there was “Cause Marketing”, we have been the official restaurant for the Action Sports Industry before there was the X-Games. So the timing was great, we have grown our brand as everything is now mainstream.
Do you have any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
Climbing up mango, guava trees and eating lots of fresh fruits.
