

Today we’d like to introduce you to William Cerqueira.
William, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I started in Real Estate 9 years ago, when transitioning from the fashion industry. (I am originally from Brazil, and I came to New York in ’01 to pursue that career. Real estate has always been a passion of mine, and upon getting out of the fashion industry, I was looking for a new venture, something that I was actually passionate about, and I realized what was right in front of me, surrounded by real estate. I began my RE career in ‘during the economic debacle, which was an advantage, as I was told by fellow seasoned agents “it cannot be a better time to start! This is the worst you will ever see this market be”. I believe that by getting in the business, during the financial meltdown gave me an edge, and made me more creative when it comes to finding, and putting deals together.
Also, it made me more knowledgeable, and more persistent as a lot of agents I know, got out of the business during that recession.
Like they say “what does not kill you, makes you stronger”
Through my relationships throughout the years, my ability to communicate with clients in English, Portuguese, Spanish (some), my out-of-the-box thinking, knowledge, respect, and persistence, have allowed me to achieve the coveted Capper and Top Producer award earlier this year.
I have been able to transform some of my client-broker relationships into to friendships.
They trust me with all their Real Estate needs, which has allowed me to have 60% of entire business originating from referrals.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No. In the real estate market, there are slow months, and hot months, especially in the beginning, During the recession was slow, “personally”. Getting to know the business during those years, was fun, yet, quite difficult. Most people could not afford to buy, and they ones that could were waiting for an even better time to do so.
However, I knew I could do it, and had decided to not see quitting as an option!
Tell us about your business/company. What do you do, what do you specialize in, what are you known for, etc. What are you most proud of as a company? What sets you apart from others?
As an agent at Keller Williams – Hollywood Hills, I am specialized in high-end homes in the LA real estate market.
I am known for providing great customer service, and finding good deals for my clients.
I am most proud of, our learning-oriented approach, and our support system.
We are very knowledgeable, resourceful, creative, and honest.
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
Spending my summer breaks in Rio de Janeiro, that was really the best!
And although I was born and raised in another city in Brazil, Rio has always been my favorite.
